After a long shift at work one of your colleagues had the idea to go to a bar. You don’t often go to bars with all of them, but today you all finally had time. A lot has changed for you since you started working as a police officer at the Mid-Wilshire Station. You found a lot of friends there and you love your job.
“I’m gonna get a drink, would any of you like one too?” You asked the others.
“Could you get me another one of these.” Lucy said, pointing at her drink and you nodded.
“What about you Tim?”
“I’m good, thanks.” He said, smiling at you. When the others said they didn’t need anything, you made your way over to the bar. While you were waiting in line for drinks, a cute guy stood next to you and waited as well. Somehow he looked familiar to you, but you weren’t sure where you had seen him before. He smiled at you and then you suddenly remembered him. You could never forget that smile.
“You’re firefighter Buckley, right?” You asked and he chuckled.
“Yeah, that’s me. Wait and you are officer L/n.”
“You can call me y/n.” You said with a smile.
“Only if you call me Buck because that’s what everyone calls me.”
“Okay, deal.” You said and he had that sweet smile again. You talked for a few more minutes until your drinks were ready.
“See you around, Buck.”
“See you and be safe.” He said and watched as you walked back to your table. You handed Lucy her drink and sat down next to Tim again.
“Who was this guy?” Tim asked curious.
“Oh, just a friend.” You answered and Tim nodded. You and Tim have been friends and partners for a long time and over time he has become very protective over you. He always knows when something is wrong and is there for you as best as he can.
The next day you kept thinking about your meeting with Buck. He was so sweet and you hope to see him again. You didn’t think you’d see him again soon because just when you had an emergency call and had to call the ambulance, it was the 118 that showed up. You couldn’t really talk to him, but it was great to see each other again.
When you were grocery shopping and walking through the halls someone said your name and when you turned around you saw that it was Buck.
“Hey Buck.” You greeted him with a smile.
“Hey, good to see you.”
“I was wondering if you would like to have a coffee with me sometime?” He suddenly asked.
“Yeah, sure. How about I give you my phone number.” He nodded and pulled out his phone. You tipped in your number and he called you, so you had his number too.
Two days passed until you got a message from Buck. He asked if you were free tomorrow and you agreed to meet after work. At work Tim noticed that you were different, happier and more excited. He didn’t ask you about it, but it made him happy to see you happy.
The coffee date with Buck went very well. You talked about everything that came to your mind. You both really enjoyed it and had a great time. He asked you out on a date and that date turned into another date and suddenly you were in a happy relationship.
You had been dating for about three months now. Usually you were at his house or yours or sometimes you were going out. Favorite things to do together include cooking, watching movies, going to the beach and you enjoying it when he tells you a story from work and then you tell him some stories too. You’re very happy together and try to spend as much time together as possible, even if it can be a bit difficult due to your work shifts. Some people don’t think a relationship between a police officer and a firefighter is a good idea, so you decided to keep the relationship a secret for a while, which wasn’t always easy especially if you would see him on a call.
Today you have been called into a very difficult situation. You called for backup, but things quickly escalated, and you injured your left arm. Luckily, Officer Harper, Officer Nolan and Officer Bradford arrived at the right time to arrest the person. While Harper and Nolan arrested the person, Tim ran over to you and called an ambulance.
“Tim, I’m aright, it’s just a small scratch.”
“Let’s wait and see what the medics say, okay?” Tim said and put some pressure on the wound to stop the bleeding. A few minutes later you could already hear the ambulance driving near you. When the doors opened you could see that it was Buck. As soon as he saw you, he ran towards you.
“Babe, are you okay? What happened?” He asked, looking at your arm. When you looked over, you saw that Tim had a confused look on his face.
“I’m okay, it’s just a small scratch.” You said again.
“Let’s go to the truck and I’ll take a look at it.” Buck said, placed his hand on your back and guided you to the truck. Then he removed the cloth from your wound and gently tried to stop the bleeding. You took a deep breath.
“I’m sorry, babe.” He looked into your eyes and tried to smile at you. Then he looked back at the wound.
“The cut isn’t too deep, so it’s okay if I just bandage it.” He said and you nodded. Buck gently put the bandage over your wound and then gave you a kiss on the cheek.
“Thank you, honey.”
“Anytime.” He said, then Buck tucked a piece of hair behind your ear and gently pulled you into a passionate kiss. When you broke the kiss, you reached for his hand and smiled at each other.
“I have to go back to work.” You said after a few seconds, even though you didn’t want to say goodbye.
“Me too.” He said, looking over his shoulder to see his friends looking at you both with smiles.
“I guess they all know now.”
“They definitely do.” You said with chuckle. You noticed how happy they all were and then looked over at Tim who was as happy as they were.
“I think I have to go now. See you later.” Buck said and gave you a quick hug.
“See you.” You said, waving at him as you walked away. As you walked to your car, Tim was still standing next to yours and looked at you with a grin.
“Now I know why you’ve been so happy lately.”
“Yeah, Buck makes me really happy.” You confirmed and opened the car door.
You were glad that Tim and Buck’s colleagues now found out about your relationship, but you definitely want to meet them soon on a better occasion. Buck has told you a lot about them, so you’re very excited to meet them.

Bradford’s Intervention.
Tim Bradford x Rookie!reader [PLATONIC] — Ongoing series: Like Father, like Rookie.
POV: A rookie who forgets to eat. A training officer who notices. It starts with late-night takeout, and ends with quiet care. Tim Bradford doesn’t say much—but actions? They speak loud enough.
TW: Reader goes through the motions of poor eating habits due to prioritising work, resulting in brief mentions of weight loss. Tim ensures reader gets back on track with eating in various ways, including often asking reader if they’ve eaten and observing if they’ve eaten enough.
A/N: Okay, first of all, I literally whipped up 70% of this oneshot and forgot to save it. So, apologies if this oneshot doesn’t hit different because it was made with frustration (Because I had to rewrite it all over again,) and not love like usual. :( Which also explains why I didn’t post once a week because my motivation went downhill after I realised it didn’t save—but we persevere!! So, here it is!
Tumblr media
It was nearing the end of shift, and Tim could already feel the exhaustion setting into his shoulders. The paperwork was never-ending, the bullpen too loud, and his patience was at about 4%.
But when he looked across the room and spotted you, hunched over your desk with a blank stare and twitching fingers—he knew something was off.
You hadn’t said a word in the past hour. Not since the last dispatch call ended. Not since you got back to your desk.
Your knee bounced restlessly under the table, fingers twitching against the edge of your laptop. Your eyes were glassy—focused on nothing, staring straight through the screen in front of you like it wasn’t even there.
Tim watched you from across the bullpen, jaw ticking.
“Kid.”
You didn’t answer. Didn’t even flinch. Just blinked—slow, like the thought had to travel a long way before it reached your brain. Then you looked up, bleary-eyed and sluggish, like you’d been wading through molasses.
Tim pushed back his chair with a scrape and crossed the room, arms folding as he stood beside your desk. “You good?”
You gave a fast, jerky nod. “Yeah. Just… tired.”
Too quick. Too rehearsed.
Tim glanced down at your desk—the same granola bar had been sitting there since morning. Unwrapped, untouched. The coffee cup next to it was long since empty.
“Did you eat today?” he asked, voice low.
Your eyes flicked to him, then away. “Wha—yeah. I’m fine.”
“That wasn’t the question,” he said flatly, brow raised. “Did you eat?”
You hesitated. Just enough to answer the question for him. Then you muttered, “Had some coffee.”
Tim exhaled through his nose. He didn’t say anything. Didn’t call you out or scold you.
He just looked at you. Stared long enough that you started to fidget, then glanced at his watch.
“Come on.”
You blinked. “What?”
He was already walking away, grabbing his jacket. “Hurry up before I leave you here.”
For a moment, you just sat there, watching him near the exit before you shook your head profusely, as if snapping out of a trance that had it’s way with you for far too long before bouncing to your feet and jogging after him.
Tumblr media
The ride was quiet—typical with Tim. No music, just the soft murmur of the radio and the occasional irritated grunt when someone on the road pissed him off.
You sat curled into your seat, arms crossed, stomach finally realizing it hadn’t been fed in over twelve hours.
Fifteen minutes later, he pulled into a faded parking lot. The diner looked like it belonged in a postcard from the ’80s—neon lights buzzing, chrome siding catching the glow of streetlamps. The windows glowed warm and yellow in the night.
You squinted. “Diner?”
“Midnight special,” he replied, cutting the engine and getting out like it was a regular routine. “Get moving.”
Inside, the air was thick with the scent of old grease, pancakes, and brewed coffee. You slid into a booth by the window while Tim nodded to the woman behind the counter. She brought two steaming mugs of coffee over like she already knew the drill.
Tim didn’t open the menu. Just sipped. Watched you.
“You’re gonna order,” he said finally, nudging a menu toward you with a finger.
You blinked at him. “What should I get?”
“All of it.”
You stared. “What?”
He took another slow sip of coffee. “Everything you’ve been skipping. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Pick something from every section.”
Your shoulders stiffened. “Sir—”
“Don’t even start,” he cut in. “I’ve seen corpses with more color than you today. You’re running on fumes and stubbornness.”
You huffed, looking away, cheeks burning. “I’m not a kid.”
Tim raised an eyebrow, but didn’t push. Instead, he nodded toward the menu again.
“Then order like an adult who knows how to take care of themselves.”
You grumbled under your breath, but something about the steadiness in his voice—like he noticed the way you’d been shrinking lately, the way your uniform was a little looser—made you obey.
And for once, you didn’t have a retort. Just stared down at the laminated page, swallowing hard as your stomach let out a quiet growl.
You pointed, finally. “I’ll take the fries, pancakes, hashbrowns, and a milkshake.”
Tim grunted, satisfied. “Atta kid.”
Tim just nursed his coffee, occasionally stealing a fry off your plate once the food came. He didn’t push. Just watched you eat with that unreadable expression of his.
Halfway through your milkshake, your shoulders sagged.
“Didn’t realize how hungry I was,” you mumbled.
Tim gave a small nod. “That’s the thing with burnout. You don’t feel it ‘til it’s already bleeding into everything else.”
You looked down at your fork.
He leaned back in the booth, exhaling slowly. “You’re not a machine, kid. You don’t get extra points for starving yourself through the shift.”
“I wasn’t trying to—”
“I know,” he said, softer now. “That’s the problem.”
You went quiet again.
The syrup was starting to stick to your fingers. The milkshake was giving you a headache. But the warmth in your chest—warmth that wasn’t from the food—was harder to ignore.
And when he flagged down the waitress for a to-go box for the leftovers you couldn’t finish, you didn’t argue.
Tumblr media
After the midnight diner run, something shifted.
Tim Bradford, usually content to let his rookies suffer through learning things the hard way, was now on your ass like a hawk about one very specific thing:
Food.
It started the next morning—quiet, early, just before roll call.
You were half-awake, rubbing sleep from your eyes and yawning into your shoulder as you fumbled with your locker. The clatter of boots on tile barely registered until a shadow stretched across the floor beside you.
“Did you eat?”
You blinked, turned your head, and found Tim standing there—arms crossed, face unreadable, looming like a silent judgmental stormcloud.
“Uh… yeah?” you offered, voice raspy from sleep.
He tilted his head slightly. “What?”
“Granola bar?” you tried again, already wincing.
He let out a low, unimpressed sound. Somewhere between a grunt and a sigh. “That’s not breakfast. That’s a snack pretending to be one. You’ve got five minutes. There’s a vending machine in the breakroom. Find something with protein—go.”
You opened your mouth—maybe to argue, maybe to ask if he was serious—but the sharp look he gave you shut it right back.
Your legs moved before your brain caught up.
Tumblr media
By day three, the mission had evolved.
Now he was personally escorting you to the food trucks during break like your own surly, broad-shouldered chaperone.
“Go big or go home,” he muttered, squinting at the chalkboard menu propped on the sidewalk. “Get the loaded burrito.”
You stared blearily at the options. “Which one?”
He stepped forward slightly, pointing without hesitation. “Not that one. The other one—with potatoes.”
You followed the direction of his finger, and it took you a second to realize your own hand had drifted to match, your finger hovering just beneath the menu item like a trained reflex.
“Yeah,” he said with a small, victorious nod. “That one.”
You gave him a look. “Are you seriously micromanaging my lunch right now?”
“Damn right I am,” Tim said without missing a beat. “Not risking my rookie blacking out during a foot chase because you skipped breakfast again.”
You just rolled your eyes with a defeated huff, stepping up to the food truck to place your order.
Tumblr media
By day five, it was no longer a secret.
In fact, it had become something of a running joke at Mid-Wilshire.
“Hey,” Jackson whispered across briefing during roll call, nudging Lucy with his elbow. “Why does Tim follow Y/N around like a grumpy golden retriever with a lunchbox?”
Lucy smirked without looking up from her notes. “He’s on full food patrol. They skipped a meal once and now it’s like… a vendetta.”
Even Grey caught wind of it.
During roll call, right as the morning briefing was about to wrap, Tim leaned over casually and murmured, “You eat anything yet?”
You muttered a tired “Yes, sir.” under your breath, and Grey paused mid-sentence.
His eyes flicked up. “You feeding your boot now, Sergeant?”
Tim didn’t even flinch. “Can’t train a rookie running on fumes, sir.”
From the back of the room, Nyla raised a perfectly sculpted brow. “Didn’t know T.O. stood for Take-Out Officer.”
Angela snorted beside her. “Please. More like Dad-ford.”
You buried your face in your elbow and tried not to laugh, whilst Tim just shook his head, deadpan as ever, but didn’t deny a thing.
Because by now, it was true.
And everyone knew it.
Later that day, when he caught you trying to sneak away with just a cup of coffee for lunch, he reached out, plucked it from your hands, and deadpanned, “Caffeine doesn’t count as calories, kid. Let’s go.”
You groaned but followed.
And maybe, just maybe, the food tasted better when he was sitting next to you, silently eating his own lunch like it was no big deal. Like he hadn’t made it his full-time side quest to make sure you were okay.
Tumblr media
By day six, Tim was satisfied with not only the improvement in your eating habits, but also with the fact that everybody in Mid-Wilshire hadn’t mentioned a thing about his part in it ever since the day before in roll call.
Until..
Nyla and Angela decided that it was too good of an opportunity to not mention it once the break room was quiet, save for the low hum of the vending machine and the occasional clink of mugs against the counter.
Nyla perched on the edge of the table, sipping her tea, while Angela leaned against the wall, arms crossed, watching Tim stir way too much sugar into his coffee.
“You know,” Angela started, her voice carrying that amused edge she always got when she was circling in on something juicy, “you’re not exactly subtle.”
Tim didn’t look up. He was leaned against the breakroom counter, hands wrapped tightly around his coffee mug like it was anchoring him. His shoulders barely shifted.
“About what?” he muttered, tone just this side of defensive.
Nyla raised a brow, sipping from her own cup as she leaned beside him. “Your rookie.”
He let out a small, tired breath. “I make sure they eat. Big deal.”
Angela gave a short laugh. “You make sure they eat. And sleep. And drink water. You drag them to food trucks, you check in before every shift, and I swear to God, I’ve seen you watch their plate like a hawk to make sure they finish what’s on it.”
Tim gave her a flat look but didn’t deny it.
“I’m not coddling them,” he said. “They weren’t taking care of themselves. I stepped in.”
Nyla crossed her arms, eyes steady. “You stepped in like a one-man wellness program, Bradford.”
He didn’t respond right away.
There was a flicker of something unreadable in his eyes. He stared down at his coffee like it might say something back to him. His voice, when it came, was quieter than before—less like a retort and more like the truth slipping out. “They’re young,” he said. “Too used to burning themselves out before they even recognize the damage. Always pushing through, always trying to prove something. I’ve seen that break people. I’m not gonna let it break them.”
Angela’s teasing faded into something softer, more thoughtful. She leaned forward, resting her arms on the table. “Most T.O.s would’ve chalked it up to ‘toughening up.’ Let them figure it out the hard way.”
He gave a small shake of his head. “Yeah, well. I’ve been the guy who figured it out the hard way. It sticks with you.” His tone had gone distant. Like he was seeing something none of them could. A memory, probably. One that hurt in ways he didn’t speak about.
The room quieted for a moment. Even Nyla, who usually had a comeback for everything, didn’t say anything right away. Then she tilted her head, voice quieter. “You’re a good T.O., Tim.”
Angela nodded. “Little overbearing. Lot grumpy. But yeah—solid.”
He rolled his eyes, but it didn’t quite reach the rest of his face.
Before he could respond, the door creaked open behind them, and your voice cut through the silence like sunlight filtering through blinds.
“Hey, sir? I grabbed you an extra taco.”
All three of them turned. You stood in the doorway with your jacket half-zipped, hair a little mussed from your earlier nap in the shop, holding out a foil-wrapped taco like it was a peace offering.
Tim’s entire posture softened in a blink.
His brows lifted—not in surprise, but in quiet warmth—and he straightened from the counter. When he reached out to take the taco from your hand, his fingers brushed yours gently. He didn’t rush it.
“Thanks, kid,” he said, his voice lower, more grounded.
You smiled—small but bright—and gave a quick nod before stepping back out, the door closing quietly behind you.
For a moment, the three of them just stood there.
Then Nyla took a long sip of her coffee and smirked. “Okay, but that was actually adorable.”
Angela grinned, eyes twinkling. “Dad-ford strikes again.”
Tim groaned and tipped his head back against the wall. “I swear to God, if that name sticks—”
“Oh, it already has,” Nyla said with a shrug. “You’re toast.”
Angela raised her cup in a mock toast. “To the dadliest T.O. in Mid-Wilshire.”
But the thing was—Tim didn’t argue. He didn’t snap back with a sarcastic jab or roll his eyes too hard.
Instead, he just looked down at the taco in his hand. His thumb brushed over the warm foil, slow and thoughtful, like he was still hearing your voice echo in his head.
And there, alone with his thoughts while the others teased, Tim let the smallest smile pull at the corner of his mouth.
One of gratitude.
And something else that felt a lot like peace.

Lucy: I still can’t believe it. Sergeant Chen… it doesn’t even sound real
Tim: It sounds exactly right
Lucy: What if I mess up? What if I’m not ready?
Tim: Then you’ll figure it out. Like you always do
Lucy: You’re not just saying that to be nice, are you?
Tim: I’m not the nice one, remember? I’m the grumpy one who doesn’t hand out praise unless it’s earned
Lucy: So… you’re proud of me?
Tim: I’ve always been proud of you. But today? I’m in awe

When you and Tim arrive at the station in the early morning, almost simultaneously, the air tingles with excitement.
Your arms are loaded with coffee cups, and as you struggle with the door, Tim effortlessly steps forward, his hand finding its place on the small of your back as he holds the door open, guiding you inside and allowing you to score another point.
A rush of warmth floods through you at his touch, but you quickly push the feeling aside, burying it beneath layers of familiarity and friendship. With a proud smile, you stride inside, leading the way.
You and Tim go way back—to those academy days when the competition between you two was as fierce as it was playful. That bond has stuck like glue through all the twists and turns of life, making you each other's ride-or-die. But to everyone else, it's crystal clear there's more brewing between you two than just a regular friendship.
Angela, Lucy, and Nolan greeted you with warm smiles as you approached, carefully balancing the steaming morning fuel. Tim lingered close behind, his grumpiness belying the playful twinkle in his eyes.
You handed out the coffees, your smile widening as Tim stepped forward to claim his cup. But before he could reach for it, you pulled it back with a mischievous grin.
"You're late, Bradford," you teased.
Tim's lips quirked into a half-smile as he reached for the cup, his fingers brushing against yours for a fraction of a second longer than necessary.
"62 to 58, you're getting lazy," you added.
"I'm not lazy," he retorted, his tone playful but firm. "I got stuck in traffic."
You rolled your eyes at his excuse, but the warmth in your chest told you that you wouldn't have it any other way.
Tim's got this tough-guy act going on, but deep down, he's got a soft spot for your sunshine personality, that smile of yours that could light up a room, and how you're always there for everyone. He won't come out and say it, claiming he's a man and men don't have BFFs, but deep down, you mean the world to him. He'd take a bullet for you in a heartbeat, no questions asked.
Whenever you're around, Tim's whole attitude changes. That grumpy exterior melts away, replaced by this warmth in his eyes that's just for you. You bring out a side of him that most people never see, and he treasures every moment he gets to spend with you. He might not say it out loud, but his actions scream it - you're not just his friend or colleague; you're everything to him.
When Tim glanced at his coffee cup and spotted the name Loser,he couldn't help but suppress a chuckle behind a façade of annoyance. "Seriously?" he grumbled, holding the cup up for you to see.
You just flashed him an innocent smile, grabbing his arm and guiding him towards the locker room to get ready for the shift.
"You and I, Bradford, we'll have so much fun together at the spa," you teased.
"Don't get your hopes up, Bug," Tim retorted, though there was a hint of fondness in his tone.
As you both walked away, Angela watched with a knowing smile. She had seen firsthand how your friendship with Tim had evolved over the years, and she knew there was something more between you two. She had watched as you both danced around your feelings, too afraid and too proud to admit the truth.
Angela turned to Lucy and Nolan, curiosity gleaming in her eyes. "What's the score?" she inquired, eager to know the latest update on the ongoing competition.
Lucy shrugged, "I'm not sure. Lost count at 45 to 53."
"It's not that bad in 12 years," he remarked, his eyebrows shot up in surprise.
Angela's lips curved into a mischievous smile. "Try 4 days," she enjoyed the shock that spread across John's face at her revelation.
"What could possibly be the prize?" Lucy's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Tickets to the season end game for Tim and a spa day at Four Seasons for Y/N."
Lucy's jaw dropped, "That's pretty expensive."
"Yeah, they had 10 years to level up the game. Five more and the loser is gonna pay for the wedding," Angela teased, nodding in agreement.
Lucy's mind started to race, a hint of speculation in her voice. "Wait, their wedding?" she paused, her expression thoughtful. "You don't think...?"
Angela rolled her eyes, dismissing Lucy's suggestion with a sarcastic tone. "That they're both stupid and love each other? No," she retorted, making it clear that the reality was far simpler. "They are going together either to the game or spa."
Lucy nodded in understanding, piecing together the situation. "Obviously it's a date but can't decide where to go."
Tumblr media
As the day stretches on, the radio comes to life once again, dispatcher's voice cutting through the quiet of the shop.
"Attention all units in the area, we have a report of a stolen vehicle in progress. Last seen heading east on 5th Street. Suspect described as male wearing a red hoodie, driving a black sedan. License plate 7-Mike-India-John-2-5-9."
Nolan's eyes meet yours, both of you immediately springing into action. "You heard the lady," you say, already reaching for the radio to confirm your response. "Let's go, Nolan. We've got a car to find."
With Nolan at the wheel, you scan the streets, eyes darting from one alley to the next, searching for any sign of the stolen car. Tim's shop trails closely behind, the tension palpable as you both race against the clock.
"Two points for the first one to get the suspect in custody," Tim challenges through the radio.
You can't help but fire back, a smirk evident in your tone. "Afraid you're gonna lose the football game, Bradford?"
Suddenly, you spot the stolen car ahead, "There it is!" you exclaim, urgency lacing your voice as you urge Nolan to step on the gas.
"Go, go, go! We've got 'em!" you exclaim, your heart pounding with adrenaline as Nolan accelerates, closing the distance between you and the suspect.
"Take the next left. We can cut them off at the intersection!" you shout, your voice filled with adrenaline-fueled excitement.
Nolan follows your instructions without hesitation, the shop skidding around the corner with precision as you close in on the stolen vehicle. With a burst of speed, you pull up alongside the suspect's car, effectively blocking their path and forcing them to come to a halt.
With adrenaline coursing through your veins, you swiftly exit the shop as Tim parks his car behind the stolen vehicle and sprints towards the suspect, but you're already a step ahead.
You draw your gun and level it at the suspect. "LAPD! Hands where I can see them!"
But then, you turn to Nolan with a knowing smile. "Officer Nolan, you have the honor," you declare, your tone proud as you watch him take charge.
Your rookie approaches the stolen car, his gun held steady as he orders the suspect out of the vehicle. "Get out. Put your hands on the hood."
With Nolan taking control of the situation, you turn your attention back to Tim, who's watching you from a few feet away. As your eyes meet, a sense of satisfaction washes over you, knowing that you've once again proven yourself in front of Tim.
"64, Bradford," you call out, "Start to think you really want that spa day."
Tim chuckles, a grin spreading across his face as he closes the distance between you.
"Don't get too cocky, Bug," he replies, "Day's not over yet."
You hold your head up high, meeting Tim's gaze with a determined look of your own as you watch Nolan take the suspect in custody.
"You're slipping, Bradford," you tease, your voice laced with amusement. "Better step up your game if you want to win those tickets."
Tim chuckles, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he leans in closer. "Careful, Bug." he murmurs, "Wouldn't want to get too comfortable in first place."
You raise an eyebrow, a smirk playing at the corners of your lips. "Oh, I don't know," you shoot back, "I'm starting to think you enjoy being one step behind."
Tim's grin widens, his gaze never leaving yours as he leans against the patrol car. "Maybe I just like the view from back here."
You can feel your cheeks flush at his words, a soft laugh escaping your lips as you playfully shove his shoulder. "Smooth, Bradford."
Tumblr media
Sergeant Grey lays down the rules at the Shadow Hills Shooting Range and you can feel the tension crackling in the air, mingling with the smell of gunpowder and sweat. Tim's presence beside you only adds to the intensity, his handsome, serious face and confident attitude drawing your attention like a magnet. You silently scold yourself for those thoughts. The earlier banter and Tim's remark about liking the view from behind made you question — again, after a long time of pushing down the feelings that blossomed for him — whether it can be something more between the two of you.
As Officer Dixon explains the rules, your eyes meet Tim's, a silent challenge passing between you. The competition is on, and neither of you is willing to back down.
With your heart pounding in your chest, you take aim at the target, your fingers steady on the trigger. But as you line up your shot, you can't help but steal a glance at Tim, his muscles flexing beneath the fabric of his uniform, his eyes focused and intense.
For a moment, you're distracted by the sight of him, the raw power and masculinity emanating from his every move. But then, you shake off the momentary lapse in focus, reminding yourself of the task at hand.
As the shots ring out, you and Tim fire with precision, each round hitting its mark with deadly accuracy. The tension between you is palpable, a silent battle of wills playing out on the firing range.
And when the last shot is fired and the smoke clears, you can't help but smirk triumphantly at Tim, your cocky grin mirroring his own. Despite the intensity of the competition, there's an undeniable attraction simmering beneath the surface—a spark of something more that threatens to ignite with every passing moment.
"Not bad, Bradford," you tease, "But I think I've got you beat this time."
But as Tim catches your gaze, his eyes lingering on you for a moment too long, you quickly compose yourself, the thrill of the competition still coursing through your veins.
"Care to make it interesting?" he murmurs, "20 bucks and 6 points if your Boot makes it out on top?"
Sergeant Grey calls the rookies to the firing line and Tim leans in close, his breath warm against your ear as he whispers teasingly. A shiver runs down your spine at the intimate contact, but you push it aside one more time. You can't resist the challenge, a grin tugging at the corners of your lips as you accept.
"I'll take that bet."
"Me too," Angela chimes in.
With the bet made, the three rookies take their positions and prepare to fire. Officer Dixon gives the signal, and they begin shooting at the targets.
But just as the competition heats up, Nolan's attention wavers, distracted by something in his peripheral vision. He stops shooting, his gaze fixed on whatever has caught his eye, and Grey barks at him to focus.
"Nolan!"
You shake your head in disbelief, frustration bubbling up as you realize your chance of winning the bet slipping away because of your rookie's distraction. Glancing over at Tim, you can't help but feel a pang of disappointment, knowing that this time, luck might not be on your side.
As Grey announces the results, everyone is waiting with bated breath to hear who will come out on top.
"So, finishing first with the most hits, fastest time, and tightest grouping... Officer Chen. Congrats. You are the new Mid-Wilshire champ," Grey declares, the sound of cheers and applause filling the air as Lucy accepts her victory.
Tim smirks as he collects his winnings from you and Angela, a playful glint in his eyes as he leans in closer, his lips dangerously close to yours and you can't help but hold your breath, aware of the eyes watching your every move.
"Looks like we're going to the game," Tim murmurs, his voice low and intimate.
You meet his gaze, a smirk playing at the corners of your lips. "Uh-huh, Bradford. We're tied. Spa still has a chance," you retort, your tone teasing despite the flutter of anticipation in your chest.
Grey's voice cuts through the air, bringing your attention back to the present. "Bradford, Y/L/N, you both tied for second," he announces, his words punctuating the moment with a sense of finality.
You can't help but groan in mock frustration, shooting Tim a playful glare. "I don't know what I hate more—tying for second with you or losing to a rookie."
Tumblr media
As the weekend arrives, you and Tim find yourselves honoring the bet. With the score tied, you decide to indulge in both activities—starting with a relaxing day at the spa and ending with watching the big end-season game at Tim's place.
The scent of lavender filled the air as you and Tim relaxed in plush robes, sipping on refreshing cucumber water and enjoying the soothing ambiance of the spa. With each gentle stroke of the masseuse's hands, you found yourself drifting into a state of bliss, the worries of the week melting away.
After the spa, you and Tim retreated to his apartment, settling in for a cozy evening. Beers in hand, you lounged on the couch, the warmth of Tim's presence beside you sending a pleasant tingle down your spine.
But just as you start to enjoy the easy rhythm of the evening, there's a knock on the door, interrupting the peace.
Tim's expression darkens as he goes to answer it, clearly not pleased by the unexpected visitor. To his surprise—and evident displeasure—it's Lucy.
But despite his less-than-enthusiastic reaction, you quickly stand up, putting on a welcoming smile as you greet Lucy and invite her in. "Hey, Lucy! Come on in," you say, motioning for her to join you on the couch. "Want a beer?"
Tim's annoyance is palpable as he glances between you and Lucy, clearly not pleased by her unexpected visit. But you ignore his displeasure, focusing instead on making Lucy feel welcome and enjoy the football game.
“Hey, did you see—?”
Tim turns his head to make a comment about the play, but Lucy suddenly moves beside you, forcing you to shift quickly. Unaware of the short distance between you and Tim, you find yourself turning your head towards him, trying to give him your undivided attention.
Your faces are mere inches apart—lips almost touching, gazes locked in a heated exchange. Time seems to stand still as you linger in the charged silence, the air thick with anticipation and unspoken desire.
In that fleeting moment, every nerve in your body is alive, your heart pounding in your chest as you drown in the intensity of Tim's gaze.
His eyes seem to search yours, as if seeking permission to bridge the small gap that separates you. And for a heartbeat, you entertain the possibility—allowing yourself to imagine what it would feel like to lean in and capture his lips with your own.
But just as quickly as the thought crosses your mind, reality comes crashing back, and you pull away, retreating into the safety of your own space.
“More beer?”
Lucy makes her way to fetch more drinks, handing the popcorn to Tim. You seize the opportunity to lean back on the couch as you inch closer to the bowl in Tim's lap.
His hand instinctively wraps around you, pulling you close and your head finds its way to his shoulder, the warmth of his body seeping into your own. Tim's gaze falls upon you, his eyes softening as he takes in your closeness.
For a brief moment, you allow yourself to revel in the intimacy of the gesture, the world falling away as you lose yourself in the warmth of Tim's embrace. But as quickly as the moment began, it shatters, broken by the sound of Tim clearing his throat and shifting away, placing the popcorn bowl between you. creating a physical barrier.
When the final buzzer sounds, signaling the victory of your favorite team, you and Tim shoot up from the couch in excitement. Turning to each other, your eyes meet in a silent exchange, the unspoken tension between you crackling in the air. And then, without a word, Tim pulls you into his arms, the heat of his body searing against your own as you melt into his embrace.
In that moment, nothing else matters—not the game, not the world outside—only the two of you, wrapped up in each other's arms. For a split second, you allow yourself to surrender to the intoxicating rush of desire, the walls around your heart crumbling in the face of the overwhelming connection between you.
But as quickly as it began, the moment passes, and you find yourselves pulling away, the weight of your unspoken feelings hanging heavy in the air.
Lucy watched with growing frustration, unable to bear witness to your dance of denial any longer. With a determined glint in her eye, she finally snaps, her frustration boiling over into a burst of blunt honesty.
"Okay, I'm sick of this," she begins, "You're so blind and stubborn."
You and Tim both turn to her with confusion, unsure of what she's getting at. But before either of you can respond, Lucy cuts through the tension.
"Just kiss already, you stupid," she exclaims, her frustration bubbling over into exasperation.
And in that moment, something shifts. Tim's resolve crumbles, his feelings finally breaking free from the confines of his heart. Without hesitation, he leans in and captures your lips in a searing kiss.
It's everything you've ever imagined—and more. His lips are warm and soft against yours, fitting perfectly as if they were always meant to be there. Every touch, every caress sends sparks flying, igniting a firestorm of passion that threatens to consume you both.
You pull away quickly when you realized the kiss was evolving into something that shouldn't be happening in front of Lucy. With a smirk playing at the corners of your lips, you tease Tim.
"Was about time, Bradford," you quip, "Took you more than a decade to kiss me."
Tim, caught off guard by your boldness, can only manage a sheepish grin in response.
"Didn't know you wanted me to do that," he admits, his eyebrows rising with surprise.
"Yes! Mom and dad are finally together," she cheers, her eyes shining with excitement and a proud smile spreading across her face as she revels in the success of her matchmaking efforts.
But Tim's grumpiness returned in an instant as he realizes Lucy was watching their intimate moment.
"Chen, get out," he grumbles as he gestured toward the door.
Undeterred, Lucy flashes a teasing smile at both of you before opening the front door of Tim's house. "Yes, sir," she teases, her playful tone undercutting the seriousness of Tim's command. Before disappearing behind the closed door, she offers one last remark.
"Be safe," Lucy calls out.
"Fifty pushups before every call tomorrow!" Tim declares, his attempt to regain control of the situation falling flat in the wake of Lucy's teasing.
With a pleading look, Lucy turns to you, her eyes silently begging for your intervention. "Mom?"
You meet her gaze with a reassuring smile, knowing that you can't save her from Tim's grumpiness but offering a comforting presence nonetheless. "Good night, Lucy," you say gently.

Chapter 8: unspoken but understood
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: none
Paring: Paige Bueckers x !photographer fem reader
Fandom: Women's basketball
Summary: everyone see it, everyone knows it... you're just not resfry to admit it
Welcome to the chapter 8 of Through The Lens. I hope you all enjoy and there is more to come...stay tuned my loveies!! 🏀💕📸
Tumblr media
The time at home had been everything I needed—warm hugs from Granny, my mom’s home-cooked meals, and the simple comfort of being surrounded by family. It also gave me the chance to step back and see the bigger picture. My final project wasn’t just about basketball anymore; it was about capturing life, connections, and the emotions that come with them.
For the past week, I’d been documenting everything on my personal camera. From my morning walks through the fields to late-night chats with Granny, I wanted to remember it all. Paige had been right by my side, blending seamlessly into my family. It was surprising how easily she fit in, like she was always meant to be there.
One evening, I was in the kitchen baking peach cobbler with Granny. She insisted I follow her exact recipe, even though I’d made it a dozen times before.
“Now, don’t you dare skimp on the cinnamon,” she scolded, wagging a finger at me.
“Yes, ma’am,” I replied with a grin.
The next day, my mom organized a BBQ, and the whole family came over. My younger cousins adored Paige, dragging her into games of tag and basketball in the driveway.
“Paige! Paige! Show us your moves!” my cousin Jackson, an aspiring point guard, begged.
Paige laughed and spun the ball on her finger. “Alright, but only if y’all promise not to dunk on me later.”
The kids screamed in delight as Paige ran drills with them, pretending to stumble whenever they “crossed” her over. Watching her interact with my family made my chest feel tight in the best way.
That night, Granny and I sat on the porch swing, the crickets chirping softly in the background.
“You’ve got a good one there,” she said, nodding toward the house where Paige was laughing with my mom.
“She’s not mine, Granny,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Granny gave me a knowing look. “Not yet, maybe. But the way she looks at you, and the way you talk about her? It’s only a matter of time.”
I bit my lip, unsure how to respond.
Granny patted my hand. “Don’t let fear keep you from happiness, baby. You deserve it.”
Paige’s POV
As Y/N and Granny talked on the porch, I found myself in the kitchen with her mom, helping clean up after the BBQ.
“So, what’s Y/N’s favorite thing to do on a night out?” I asked, trying to sound casual.
Her mom raised an eyebrow. “Planning something, are we?”
“Maybe,” I said with a smirk.
Her mom’s face softened. “She loves sunsets, anything strawberry-flavored, and quiet places where she can think. But honestly, she’ll love anything you do, as long as it’s with her. Also something about the water calms her. And if you want to impress her, take her to special place that no one knows about.”
I nodded, filing the information away. “Thanks, Mrs. Y/L/N.”
“Call me Mom,” she said with a smile.
I smiled, filing away the information. “Thank you.”
“Just take care of her,” she said, her tone serious now. “She’s been through a lot, and she deserves someone who will treat her right.”
“I will, momma” I promised.
Y/n Pov
The week flew by, and soon it was time to head back to Connecticut. At the airport, Paige noticed me shivering and draped her UConn warm-up jacket over my shoulders.
“You didn’t pack warm clothes, did you?” she teased.
“I didn’t think I’d need them,” I replied, clutching the jacket tightly.
As we walked through the terminal, I noticed a few fans snapping pictures. By the time we boarded the plane, Twitter was already buzzing.
At the next practice, Coach Geno wasted no time teasing us.
“Look at the lovebirds, back from their honeymoon,” he said with a grin.
“Not you too, Coach,” I groaned, my cheeks heating up.
Paige just laughed, nudging me with her elbow. “You know they won’t let this go, right?”
“I know,” I muttered.
The teasing didn’t stop there. During warm-ups at the next game, Paige convinced me to let her work the camera.
“Just point and shoot,” I said, handing it to her.
“You act like I’ve never held a camera before,” she said, rolling her eyes.
She ended up taking surprisingly good shots, though she couldn’t resist turning the camera on me a few times.
“Smile, Y/N!” she called, snapping a photo of me blushing.
After the game, a reporter asked Paige about our relationship during a post-game interview.
“Paige, there have been rumors about you and Y/N. Care to comment?”
Paige’s smile didn’t falter, but I could see the tension in her jaw. “Y/N’s a good friend and an incredible photographer. That’s all there is to it.”
The answer stung, but I understood why she said it.
Later that night, as we reviewed footage together, Paige leaned closer and whispered, “I didn’t mean it like that.”
“I know,” I said, my voice soft.
The truth hung between us, unspoken but understood.

Being adopted into the Chen family continues to be the best thing that ever happened to you. It didn’t help your shyness much, but the love and sense of belonging you’ve found outweigh all the bad you’ve experienced. When you joined the military, becoming a military doctor, you overcame your shyness enough to be a great doctor. However, when you stop being a doctor, you’re back to the shy sister Lucy knows and loves.
The last time you were stateside, you met Tim Bradford and fell for him quickly. During the six months you were home, Tim learned nearly everything there is to know about you, and he loves all of you.
Now, in your seventh month stationed in Europe, you look forward to your weekly call home. You call one of two numbers: Tim or Lucy. They’re always together when it’s time to answer, so you know you’ll get a chance to talk to both of them and grow shy from across an ocean. Your dog is sitting beside you as the call begins.
“Hey, sis!” Lucy greets happily when the line connects.
The picture is blurry today, but you smile when you see your sister. She’s in her uniform, in an empty office at the police station. Being seven hours ahead means you usually catch her or Tim while they’re at work.
“Hi,” you answer. “Is Tim there?”
“He’s actually on patrol,” she answers. “I’m sorry; there’s a huge problem here right now so they’ve got a ton of people out there.”
“That’s okay. How are you?”
Lucy looks up when a door opens and turns the computer away.
“I’m pretty good. I want to hear about you, though, because not much has changed here.”
“Move,” Tim demands.
You can only see his hand as he reaches for the computer, and you duck away from the camera as they compete for your attention.
“Chen,” Tim says.
“Which one?” you ask.
“The one whose badge I can take. Just let me say hello.”
“Why don’t you just sit together?” you suggest. “Not to say I don’t enjoy this.”
Tim huffs as he pulls a chair beside Lucy, forcefully turning the computer so you can see both of them. He smiles, and you forget what you were going to say.
“Any word on when you’ll be home next?” Lucy asks.
“Nothing. I’m hoping to hear something soon though. There isn’t much happening, so they’ll probably need to move me soon anyway.”
“Then they should let you call more often,” Tim comments.
“I agree. I miss you.”
Tim elbows Lucy gently.
“She meant both of us,” Lucy argues. “Didn’t you?”
You nod and look up suddenly.
“I have to go,” you explain. “I’m so sorry. I love both of you and I’ll talk to you as soon as I can.”
“I love you,” Tim replies.
“Love you, sis. Be safe,” Lucy adds just before the call ends. “I miss her, Tim.”
“I know.”
Lucy continues staring at the blank screen, and Tim asks her about something he noticed days ago.
“What’s going on?”
“I just- I’m sad all the time. I don’t know if it’s just because she’s gone because I’ve been dealing with her deployments for years, but the only thing I want, have wanted for weeks, is to see her. It’s hard doing everything without her when she’s the only person I want to share things with.”
“I’m sorry, Lucy.”
“Bradford, Chen, we need you back out there when you’re done. This crime spree is getting worse each time we try to make progress,” Wade says.
“Let’s go, we’ll ride together,” Tim offers.
“Like the good old days!”
“I hope not exactly like those.”
✯✯✯✯✯
“Superiors are giving you a choice,” your MC commander begins. “Transfer to Germany or temporary leave before being stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas.”
“What would I be doing in Texas, sir?” you ask.
“Continued training and teaching, mostly. And the temporary leave is only two months, but after all this time in Europe I assume you’d return to sunny Los Angeles.”
“I’d like to take the Fort Bragg position, sir.”
“Okay, I’ll let the Surgeon General’s office know. I’m sorry to have interrupted your call; video broadcast has ended, but if you’d like to make a phone call, share the good news, go ahead.”
“Thank you, sir.”
You walk into a private office, dialing Tim’s number and hoping he’s alone. Lucy has been down the last two times you’ve talked. She hides it well, but you’re her sister and can see through her.
“Bradford,” Tim answers.
“Chen,” you reply. “Are you alone?”
“Yeah, I am. What’s going on?”
“Is my sister okay? She’s seemed really sad.”
Tim sighs before he answers, “She misses you. A lot.”
“Then I need your help with something. I’m coming home.”
“When?” Tim asks. “I mean, I’ll help you with anything, but I’m so happy to get to see you again.”
You press your lips together, feeling heat rising in your cheeks.
“I should be there in a week or so, but I’ll let you know a date when I have one.”
“Okay. And the help?”
“I want to surprise Lucy. Any ideas?”
“Well, there is a restaurant she can’t stop talking about.”
“Tim? I’m going to be home for two months.”
“I get you for two months?”
“I can’t wait,” you answer sarcastically.
“Give me a date and time and I’ll get Lucy there.”
“Will she get suspicious?”
“Who do you think I am? She won’t have a clue.”
✯✯✯✯✯
A week later, Lucy has been checking her phone nonstop. She hasn’t heard from you since you abruptly ended the last call, and her concern and sadness about missing you are beginning to overflow. All of her fellow cops have noticed, so when you call and ask a few of them to meet at Lucy’s favorite restaurant to cheer her up, they happily agree.
“Get ready,” Tim demands at the end of the shift. “We’re going to dinner.”
“Why?” Lucy asks.
“Because we’re both worried and need a distraction. She’s fine, but you’re going to make yourself sick worrying like this, Lucy.”
“Okay. Give me ten minutes. Where are we going?”
“Your favorite.”
Lucy smirks as she walks to the locker room. Tim checks his phone but hasn’t received any message saying you landed.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Easy, boy,” you whisper, patting your dog over the Military K-9 vest as the plane lands.
The other passengers are kind enough to let you get your duffel bag and exit the plane first, rushing to the car rental counter and leaving for the restaurant. You’re running late, and don’t even think about letting Tim know you’re back in Los Angeles. As you park, seeing the ‘Service Animals Welcome’ sign on the door, you realize you forgot to tell Tim your dog is with you.
“Let’s go introduce you to my family.”
Pulling your phone from your pocket, you call Tim.
“Hey,” he answers. “I don’t have long before your sister shoves me over a balcony to talk to you.”
“Patio?” you ask, smiling.
“Yep.”
“I’ll be over in a minute.”
“Is that my sister?” Lucy asks, attempting to pull Tim’s arm away from his ear to take the phone.
“Tim, I have to go. I love you. Tell Lucy I said hi,” you say before ending the call.
✯✯✯✯✯
Lucy sits down, dejected. She tries to enjoy the appetizers and her friends sitting around her, but she wishes you were at the party. The door opens, and Lucy glances over before picking up her head and giving her full attention to the person walking through the door. Her jaw drops as she watches you walk toward her, a dog at your side. Lucy’s shock turns to a smile as she jumps from her seat to hug you. As you return her hug, smiling as you whisper how happy you are to see her, Tim’s hand covers yours as he takes the leash from you.
“Hey, bud,” he says to the dog. “Lucy, could I get a turn?”
“No,” she says against your shoulder.
“Hi, Tim,” you greet, turning your face away when he smiles.
“Hiding from my smile,” he muses. “Can you survive two months with me?”
“Two months?!” Lucy repeats, pulling back.
“I like your dress,” you murmur, seeing her for the first time in too long. “And, yes, I have two months of leave before I move to Fort Bliss.”
“Where is that?”
“Texas.”
“You’re staying stateside?” Tim interjects, wrapping an arm around your waist. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
You shrug, turning in his arms to hug him.
“Welcome home,” he says, kissing your jaw as his arms tighten around you.
“Thanks for helping me with the surprise.”
“I’ll always be here with you.”
“So will I!” Lucy adds.
“Are you going to fight to hug me now?” you ask.
“Yes!” everyone at the table answers.
“And you brought a dog!” Lucy cheers, lowering her hand to pet your dog.
“I love you,” Tim says, pulling a chair out so you can sit between him and Lucy.
“I love you,” you reply softly. “I have one more thing I didn’t tell you, though.”
“What?” Lucy and Tim ask together.
“The position I took is a teaching job, so I’ll have more time to visit.”
They hug you simultaneously, no longer fighting over who gets to go first. You drop your chin towards Tim’s arm and smile. When your dog puts his paws in your lap and joins the hug, you know you are finally home. Sitting at a table with the two people you love most in the world, you know the next two months will be amazing, even if you're shy the entire time.

Being EXO’s fem!idol crush who gets shipped with them - Hyung Line Ver.
Maknae Line Ver.
a/n: this is based on the SM girl group idol au that i wrote a while back, please read that first so that the writing will make sense :) ALSO chen’s will be written platonically bc as i’ve stated before, i don’t feel comfortable writing romantic scenarios for someone who has a wife and two kids 💀 AND these scenarios are LONG so i’m splitting this into two parts! enjoy :)
TW: kissing, being held, crying, mentions of food
Tumblr media
Xiumin:
You and Xiumin had been growing close as colleagues and friends for a few months now. You began hanging out on a semi-regular basis, and today he was guest starring on a live video for Etoile Clubhouse.
“You ready?” you asked him, finger hovering over mouse to click the “live” button. You were actually asking yourself if you would be able to get through a whole video with him without making a fool of yourself. Lately you had been developing the biggest crush on him, and it was highly embarrassing. Not even your members knew about it. You knew that Nabi and Marie would just tease you mercilessly, and that Iseul and Kaori would never stop bothering you with questions, so you decided to keep it to yourself.
“You know it.” he winked, leaning forward in his chair with a grin.
You nodded, letting out a small gulp as you clicked the button. In just a few seconds, fans and comments were pouring in.
“Hi Starlight! It’s your main vocalist Y/N!” you greeted your fans lovingly. Xiumin glanced over at you with an admiring sparkle in his eyes, which you didn’t seem to notice.
“Today I’m joined by my good friend, Xiumin of EXO!” you announced, gesturing over to him.
Xiumin waved at the camera. “Hi Starlight! It’s good to see you!”
You began scrolling through some of the comments.
ugh, my two biases together, my heart can’t take it 😭
OLDEST MEMBERS ON TOP!
look at the way he’s looking at her 🥺💞
You tried to control the blush smile that threatened to make its way onto your face, leaning back in your chair. “Well, they’re certainly happy to see you too!”
He smiled appreciatively, giving the camera a small bow. “Thank you, Starlight. It’s an honor to be here with the lovely Y/N.”
You hit his arm playfully. “Stop trying to butter me up! You’re not stealing any of my fans!”
He laughed at you, ruffling your hair slightly. “Awh, you know I wouldn’t do that to you. Besides, I could never betray EXO-L like that.” He flashed a finger heart at the camera with a cute wink.
You rolled your eyes, then went back to reading some of the comments.
just ask her out already xiumin 😑
the banter??? they’re so cute omg
oh they’re definitely dating 👀
“Wow, you guys really have a lot to say today.” you chuckled nervously.
Xiumin glanced over at you again with a reassuring smile, his eyes so full of compassion that you could melt. “We do make a pretty good team, Y/N. You can’t blame them for being honest.”
You laughed at his comment, easing up a bit. As the live went on, you both just answered some questions and talked about the projects you’d been working on lately. There were a lot of laughs, and overall you were very satisfied with the fan turnout. A lot of EXO-L’s had heard that Xiumin was on your live, and popped over to say hi as well.
“Well, we’re approaching our hour mark, so unfortunately it’s time to say goodbye.” you huffed disappointedly. You always hated saying goodbye to your fans.
“I suppose so…” Xiumin sighed. He pouted at the camera, making you chuckle.
“Alright, until next time, stay twinkly!” you smiled at the camera, pressing you hand to your lips to do your signature ending. You always blew a kiss to the camera at the end of a live.
However, as you did, Xiumin pressed a kiss to your cheek. You froze, hand falling away from your lips slowly.
“Did you just…?” you asked in bewilderment, looking over at him with doe eyes.
He just sat there with a content shit-eating grin on his face, looking at you innocently.
You looked over at the monitor to see what the fans were saying.
OH MY GOD Y/N-MIN IS HAPPENING !!!
XIUMIN IS BOLD AF
KISS! KISS! KISS!
“ALRIGHT, it’s time to say goodbye Starlight!” you chuckled anxiously, quickly blowing a kiss before exiting out of the live. You swiveled around in your chair to face Xiumin. “What was that?”
“It was just a kiss on the cheek.” he chirped, resting his chin on his hand.
“Yes, but on live? That could’ve been a disaster! What if the fans-“
“What if the fans what?” he interrupted, grabbing your hand and rubbing his thumb long the back of it. “They obviously liked us together. And so do I.”
Your heart stopped, and you looked up at him in disbelief. “You… you do?”
He nodded, brushing a strand of your hair behind your ear. “I do. I really do. I want something more with you Y/N.”
You gave him a small smile, placing your hand over his. “I do too Xiumin. I’ve wanted it for a while now. I’m sorry I freaked out.”
“It’s understandable. What I did was kind of risky.” he chuckled.
“You think?” you replied sarcastically.
“Come here…” he grumbled, tugging you closer to him. He brought his hands up to the sides of your face and pulled you in for a kiss. It was sweet and delicate, and everything you had been hoping for. You placed your hands on his shoulders as you leaned into it, deepening it slightly. As you pulled away, your foreheads came to rest against each other.
“You make me so happy, Y/N.” he whispered, squinting his eyes.
“Ditto.” you replied, pecking his lips again.
Tumblr media
Suho:
It was the long anticipated MAMA awards, and you and your group were all dressed up in matching indigo gowns. You were all sitting together in your row, watching the performances and applauding as the awards were presented. You were especially entertained by one of the hosts… Suho from EXO.
“Wow, you’re really engrossed in the ceremony Y/N.” Nabi commented, leaning over and nudging you in your side.
“Oh, shut up!” you grunted, slapping her arm away. “I’m just excited to see all our colleagues get rewarded for how hard they’ve worked this year.”
“Yeah, and it has nothing to do with how you’ve had a crush on Suho since the day he accidentally walked in on our dance practice back when we were trainees.” Marie teased you from your other side.
“I’m feeling very ganged up on right now.” you grumbled, crossing your arms. “At least the maknaes respect me enough not to make fun of me.”
“That’s only because they’re such big STAYS that they can’t take their eyes off the stage long enough to realize you’re making googly eyes at the host.” Nabi retorted.
You glanced over at Iseul and Kaori who were totally immersed in Stray Kids’ performance. They were totally in love with Felix and Changbin respectively, and were so jealous when you got to make a cameo in one of their music videos. You promised to get them autographs, but it only eased the pain a little bit.
Everyone broke out into applause as Stray Kids exited the stage and returned to their seats. Suho and Irene walked back to the center of the stage to announce the next award, and a hush fell upon the audience. You looked up at the stage with bright eyes, trying to act as if you were looking at both the hosts, and not just Suho.
“What a wonderful performance from Stray Kids!” he congratulated. “It’s no wonder they’ve already received three awards tonight.”
You laughed along with everyone else, making Nabi and Marie share a knowing glance. You hit them both lightly on the thigh, making them snap away from each other quickly. Sometimes your unni-card came in handy.
“That’s true, but now it’s time to announce the winner of best female group!” Irene beamed, waving the envelope in her hands.
The crowd erupted in cheers, and all five of you looked at each other with wide eyes. It was your first year in the running, and while you weren’t expecting to win, the anticipation was killing you all. Etoile had really taken off last year after Andromeda was released, and was already considered in the realms of Twice and Red Velvet. It was certainly going to be a tense moment, and the whole audience knew it.
You grabbed onto Nabi and Marie’s hands, immediately forgetting about how frustrated they had made you earlier. Marie reached over to hold Iseul and Kaori’s hands. It was a tradition you all started after you won your first award with Andromeda. Even if you weren’t expecting to win, you all held hands to signify your unity. Irene began to unfold the envelope, and everyone was on the edge of their seats.
You glanced up at the stage, and for a moment, you could swear that Suho was looking at you. His eyes were full of admiration and joy. Your heart stopped, and you gripped onto your members hands even harder. Suddenly, Suho glanced over at the envelope in Irene’s hands. His eyebrows raised and his mouth fell open slightly. Forgetting himself, he looked back over at you in the crowd and gave you a small wink. Did that mean that…?
“And the MAMA award for best female group goes to Etoile!” Irene cheered, clapping her hands together excitedly.
The five of you sprung up from your seats, eyes wide with shock and disbelief. There was no way! This had to be a joke. But when you looked behind you and saw nearly all your colleagues, senior and junior, looking at you with praise and pride, you knew it was real.
You looked over at Nabi, who already had tears streaming down your face. You giggled at her emotional reaction, putting a hand on her shoulder. “You okay?”
She shook her head, wiping her tears. “I’m… I’m…”
You chuckled at her, taking her hands in your own. “Come on, we have to go accept the award.”
As you led your leader out into the aisle way, you glanced back to see Marie clinging onto her, then Iseul clinging onto Marie, and Kaori clinging onto Iseul. They were all sobbing and barely making it out of their seats without passing out. You shook your head with an amused smile. This always happened. Your members would all be blubbering messes and you were always the only calm one, leading them up the stage like a mother hen.
As you reached the stairs, you looked up to see Suho rushing over to help you up. You couldn’t help the giddy smile that was plastered on your face as his eyes met yours. You took his hand and allowed him to lead you up the steps, with him taking extra care to move slowly enough so that you wouldn’t trip in your heels. As you ascended the last step, he gingerly placed a kiss over the back of your hand. Your eyes went wide, and you could hear your members giggling behind you.
“Congratulations. You deserve this.” he told you, gesturing over to Irene, who was waiting to give you your award.
You gave him an excited, blushy smile and rushed over to Irene, who already had her arms extended to give you a huge hug. As she pulled away, she handed you your award. “I knew you could do it, little sis.” she grinned admiringly.
“Thank you, big sis.” you replied with a small bow, leading your girls over to the microphone to give the speech.
—————
Later that night, you were all at the after party, and everyone there was treating you like the guests of honor. Your friends from Stray Kids came over to congratulate you, making Iseul and Kaori’s millennium.
“Did you see the way Changbin looked at me?” your maknae squealed, clutching the award to her chest. She hadn’t let go of it all night long, treating it like it was her own child. You had to admit, it was adorable to see your “daughter” so excited about your groups’ achievement.
“Yeah, it was the same way Suho was looking at our Y/N during the ceremony.” Nabi teased you once again.
You rolled your eyes. “Yeah, well you couldn’t look at anything during the ceremony because your eyes were flooded with tears.”
The other girls laughed along with you, except Nabi, who scoffed annoyedly.
“I still can’t believe he kissed your hand though.” Iseul commented, shaking your shoulders excitedly. “I really think you should shoot your shot with him!”
“All I want to do right now is go get some air.” you shut her down, patting her shoulder lovingly. “All this interrogation is making me feel suffocated.”
The four girls chuckled at you, waving you off as you made your way to a secluded hallway. You knew they meant well, but god they were insufferable sometimes.
However as you turnt the corner, lost in thought, you came face first with a solid brick wall. At least, that’s what you thought it was until you looked up to see Suho’s eyes locked in on yours.
“Oh, forgive me, I’m so clumsy!” you apologized frantically, feeling your cheeks heat up.
“No, it’s alright!” he reassured you, placing his hands gingerly on your arms to stabilize you. “Are you okay?”
You nodded. “Yeah, I just had to get some air.”
“I get it. Being so successful is exhausting.” he replied.
You smiled at him before glancing down at the ground nervously. “We really weren’t expecting to win.”
“What?” he asked you, furrowing his brows in confusion. “Why not? I thought you guys were an absolute shoo-in.”
“Is that why you were staring at me in the crowd?” you asked, feeling a bit more bold.
Now it was his turn to blush and glance down at his shoes. “Maybe. I just knew that my favorite junior group had worked really hard this year and deserved to win the award.”
Your heart slipped a beat. “We’re your favorite junior group?”
He nodded with a playful grin. “Absolutely. And you’re my bias.”
Your mouth impulsively dropped open, making you feel like an idiot. You quickly slapped it shut, adjusting your hair anxiously. “That’s really funny, because you happen to be my bias.”
“Really?” he gaped, copying the same actions you had just taken. You giggled with a nod, making him chuckle. “I guess EXO-L and Starlight are right, we do make a good pairing.”
You squinted your eyes in confusion. “What do you mean?”
“Oh, you must have been so busy out there that you haven’t had the chance to check social media!” he realized, pulling his phone out of his back pocket. He pulled up a popular fanpage and handed it to you. “It’s all anyone can talk about. Along with how adorable you were leading your group down the aisle.”
You scrolled through the comments, eyes bulging out of your head at how many there were.
suho was so cute kissing Y/N’s hand 🥺 i’m so jealous but i think they’d make an adorable couple
suho rushing over to help Y/N up the stage was the cutest thing ever! he definitely has a lil crush on her <3
did anyone else notice how Suho winked at Y/N in the audience??? and how Y/N was looking at Suho the whole time he was hosting??? they’re literally so in love idc 😤
You fought back the tugging at the corner of your lips, handing Suho back his phone. “That’s amazing.”
“I know. I guess the only thing left for us to do is go out on a date.”
You nodded. “I’d like that very much.”
You both exchanged numbers, then said your goodbyes as he made his way back out into the party. As you got to the bathroom, you shut the door behind you and pressed your back against it, clutching your chest. You had just gotten the award of your dreams and the man of your dreams, all in the same night. How much more lucky could you get?

Lay:
You were having a great time in China with Marie, being chosen as guest mentors for an idol training program. A lot of the girls on the show were fans, and your appearances were bringing in a lot of new Chinese Starlights.
You were reaching the end of your filming, running through the last steps of your dance practice with the girls. You and Marie were standing at the front of the room with your backs’ to the door, and you were so entranced with watching your girls’ practice that you didn’t even hear the door open behind you.
Suddenly, a strong pair of arms was thrown around the two of you, making you both jump. Your head whipped around quickly, and your eyes widened as you realized who it was.
“Yixing!” you both cheered, turning around in his arms to hug him.
He flashed a smile at you before wrapping his arms around the two of you tightly.
The girls all finished their dance and cheered at the arrival of another mentor, one that they had been working with for quite a while now.
“Alright girls, I think it’s time for a break!” you announced. They all thanked you and bowed before filing out, leaving the three of you alone in the dance practice room.
“I didn’t know you guys’ were going to be on the show!” Yixing beamed, putting his hands on his hips. “I came in to do the dance practice with the girls today and they were all gone, then the producers told me you were guest mentoring today, and I just had to come say hi.”
“Yes you did!” you agreed. “We’ve missed you so much at SM! You were our favorite senior!”
He blushed slightly, running a hand through his hair. “I’ve missed you guys too. But I really like the work I’m doing over here.”
“Of course, we understand that.” Marie reassured him. “It just gets hard without your expertise sometimes.”
You all laughed, shifting slightly.
“Alright, I think that’s enough footage for now.” the camera man announced. “The main focus of the episode is going to be the vocal practice so you guys are good to go.”
You and Marie thanked him, then turned back to Yixing.
“So, if you guys aren’t doing anything tonight, do you wanna get dinner together? It’ll be my treat.” he offered with a cute smile.
You blushed slightly. “I’d love to.”
“Thank you, but I’ll pass. I think I pulled something in my shoulder today.” Marie grumbled, rolling her shoulder back a few times. “But you guys have fun.”
“Okay, no worries. Y/N and I will have a great time together without you.” Yixing teased her, ruffling her hair. She pushed him away with a scowl. He had always treated Marie like a little sister, which made you laugh because she was usually so tough and headstrong.
He turned back towards you. “Text me which hotel you’re at, and we can meet up around 7 if that’s okay?”
You nodded, smiling brightly at him. “It’s a date!” You cringed internally. Why would you say that?
He said his goodbyes and left the room, leaving you and Marie to yourselves.
“You’re welcome, by the way.” she huffed, punching you on the arm lightly.
“For what?” you asked, grabbing your purse.
“For making up that lie about my shoulder so you could have a dinner alone with Yixing.” she grinned, taking a few swigs from her water bottle before continuing. “I’m missing out on a great dinner just so you can make a move with your crush, so you better not waste it.”
—————
“And so I’m standing there in the middle of the subway in a Sailor Moon costume, looking around for my members, and they’re just nowhere to be seen! I had to take the subway all the way back to the dorms in that ridiculous outfit!”
Yixing threw his head back in laughter at your story, bringing a hand up to cover his mouth. “Oh my gosh, they did not leave you there by yourself!”
“Yes they did! And that’s why you don’t leave the group to get coffee after shooting a music video.” you concluded, rolling your eyes.
He was rolling, small tears forming in the corners of his eyes from how hard he was laughing. “Ah, that’s too funny. I mean, not for you, but… as a listener.”
You nodded, brushing a piece of hair behind your ear. “No it’s okay. It’s unfortunate, but hilarious.”
“I’m so glad I asked you out to dinner tonight.” he commented, eyes looking into yours and sparkling with sincerity. “I meant it when I said I’ve missed you.”
“I did too. It’s not the same without you there.” you replied.
He seemed to be reaching across the table for your hand. Your heart stopped in anticipation.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
You squinted your eyes and exhaled an annoyed sigh. “I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay, go ahead and answer it.” he chuckled awkwardly.
You practically ripped your phone out of your purse and hit the answer button, hardly even looking at who it was. “What?!” you spat.
“Y/N! For the love of god check your phone!” Nabi screeched on the other end of the line.
“Nabi? Why, what’s going on? Are the girls okay?” you asked worriedly.
“Yeah, we’re all fine! Just check your phone!” your leader demanded, then hung up the phone.
You looked over at Yixing in confusion.
“Everything okay?” he asked, concerned.
“I don’t know. Nabi just screamed at me to check my phone.” you shrugged, beginning to scroll through your text messages. First was the group chat you had with the members.
Nabi 🦋: “Y/N Y/L/N YOUVE GOT SOME EXPLAINING TO DO”
Marie 🐈‍⬛: “Relax, I just ditched dinner so she could be alone with Yixing. They’re not dating yet. No one call her, you’ll ruin their date.”
Iseul 🐶: “YES! FINALLY!”
Kaori 🐥: “Wait, Y/N and Yixing are dating???”
Iseul 🐶: “Y/N? Who asked who out?”
Kaori 🐥: “I’m so glad my parents are finally together :)”
Nabi 🦋: “CALL ME RN.”
Marie 🐈‍⬛: “You guys are literal idiots.”
You knit your brows in confusion before switching over to your other text messages. Why were they talking about you and Yixing dating? And how did they even know you were out with him?
Yeri 💜: “bestie, have you seen this?” *article attached*
Taeyong 🌹: “Y/N, have you been on twitter recently? There’s some stuff you might wanna see…”
Ten 🐱: “WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME YOU WERE GOING OUT WITH YIXING?! I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS 😭”
Karina ❤️: “yessss get it girl!” *photo attached*
Manager 🫡: “Call me when you get a chance. It’s important.”
Yixing reached for your hand again, actually holding it this time. “Y/N… what’s going on?”
You looked at him helplessly, feeling your heart swell with anxiety. “There’s dating rumors about us. I’m guessing the fans saw us on that tv show and then saw us here together.”
He looked like he was about to say something, but was interrupted by his own cell phone ringing loudly in his pocket.
He sighed, grabbing his coat. “Let’s go to my place. I have a feeling we’ll be sorting this out all night.”
—————
You had just gotten back to Yixing’s place, and were currently sitting on the sofa waiting for your manager to pick up his phone. He had gone into his bedroom to talk to his own manager, telling you to just make yourself comfortable.
You tapped your foot anxiously as your phone rang. You had no idea what your manager was going to say. Would he be angry? Understanding? Just as confused as you were?
“Hey Y/N.” he finally answered.
“Hey.” you sighed, feeling your stomach turn. You prepared yourself for the worst.
“How are you holding up kid?” he asked, seemingly genuinely concerned.
“About as good as I can. I still don’t really know what’s going on.” you replied.
“Well, I just got done talking to the company. They said the response is mostly positive. They’ve given you the okay to confirm the relationship.”
Your eyes widened in disbelief. That was pretty much the opposite of what you were expecting to hear. “Really?”
“Yeah, it’s really interesting. Apparently they saw the two of you hugging and bantering on that idol show you’re on right now and thought it was really sweet. Then someone posted that picture of the two of you at that restaurant and the comments were just flooded with approval.” he laughed, seemingly just as perplexed as you were. “I’ve gotta say, I have to agree with them. You guys do look good together.”
You chuckled, pushing your hair back in amazement. “Oh my gosh. I have no idea what to do now.”
“Are you with Yixing right now?” your manager asked.
“Mmhm. He’s in the other room talking to his manager.” you replied.
“Okay. You two can talk it over for a bit. Let me know what decision you come to.” he instructed. “Take care, kid.”
“Okay, I will. Talk to you in a bit.” you told him, hanging up the phone. You sighed in relief, tossing your phone onto the coffee table. You sunk down onto the sofa and shut your eyes, rubbing them slightly.
Suddenly, Yixing emerged from the hallway. He chuckled at your disheveled appearance, walking over to sit down next to you. “You good?”
“Honestly, I’m better off than I thought I would be.” you answered with an amused smirk. “My manager just told me the response is mostly positive.
“Mine said the same thing.” he nodded. “Now it’s just up to us.”
You sat up, folding your hands in your lap. “So, what do we want to do?”
He shrugged casually. “I’d like to confirm it.”
Your heart stopped. “You do?”
He smiled, dimples showing prominently. “Y/N, I’ve had a crush on you for years. Now thanks to the fans, I might actually have a chance with you.
Your face broke out into an enormous grin, and you began to feel butterflies in your stomach. This was really too good to be true.
“Alright, I’ll call my manager and tell him to confirm it.” you beamed, reaching for your phone.
He grabbed your wrist delicately, stopping you. “Wait, just a second…” He then leaned forward and placed a tender kiss on your cheek.
Your face heated up, and you touched your hand to your cheek lightly, looking at him perplexedly. “What was that for?”
“For giving me a night I’ll never forget.”

Baekhyun:
It was the fans’ dream come true. A collab between SuperM and GOT the Beat. All the male and female legends of SM were going to be together in one music video.
You were all currently shooting the music video. The director’s vision was to mix up the different ages and genders in individual cuts to showcase the true unity of the super groups. Taemin, Hyoyeon, and Kai were put together since they were a fan favorite grouping. Taeyong and Taeyeon were another paring. Ten and Seulgi were partners, as well as Mark and Iseul. Then, Karina and Winter did their section together. BoA, Wendy, and Lucas were the last trio. That left you and Baekhyun, who had been your idol and celebrity crush since you were 16.
Karina and Iseul winked at you before walking off into their own groupings, making you scowl and roll your eyes. You turned back to Baekhyun with a weak smile, bowing politely.
“It’s so nice to meet you formally.” you stammered meekly. “I’m a huge fan. You’re actually one of my biggest inspirations as a main vocalist.”
Damnit, you thought, that probably made me sound like such a nerd.
Baekhyun’s face lit up in the most genuine smile, he was practically giggling in contentment at your confession. “That’s so wonderful to hear! I’m honored to have inspired the best female vocalist at this company.”
You gasped, eyes going wide. “Oh I’d hardly call myself the best, especially considering what powerhouses I get to work with in GTB!”
He chuckled, crossing his arms and leaning closer to you. “Your nickname is ‘angel voice’ for a reason.” He seemed to be getting more and more comfortable with you by the second. The two of you seemed to just click instantly.
“Would you like to hear a secret?” he practically whispered. You nodded and turnt your ear towards his lips with an intrigued grin. “You give quite a bit of inspiration to me as well Y/N. I might just be your biggest Starlight.”
You gasped again, this time out of excitement. “You’re kidding!” you exclaimed.
He shook his head, playful smile still wide on his face. “Why would I lie to my favorite junior?”
You rolled your eyes and blushed, looking away in embarrassment. He really knew how to fluster you. Luckily, the director had just walked over to you and was about to start shooting.
“Alright Y/N and Baekhyun! We’ve got a lot of good visuals and vocals between the two of you so I’m very excited to shoot these cuts!” she beamed, clapping her hands together. “We’re going to take a teaser photo first, then we’re just going to roll the cameras to get some b roll for the music video.” The both of you nodded understandingly before moving over to the shooting area.
“Let’s start by having Y/N stand in the foreground looking straight at the camera.” the director ordered. “Baekhyun, how about you put an arm around her chest and place the other hand delicately on her waist. Now, tilt your head towards her as if you’re whispering in her ear.”
Your heart stopped as you both assumed the position. You had filmed music videos with other male artists before, so the intimacy wasn’t the issue. It was the fact that Byun Baekhyun was going to be just inches away from your ear and holding you close to him.
You froze as he placed his hand on your waist.
“Is this okay?” he asked softly enough that only you could hear him.
You smiled appreciatively and nodded slightly. He then placed the other arm around your chest and gripped his fingers securely onto your shoulder as if to comfort you. He was really making it easy to lean into his touch, and soon you were comfortably standing there in his arms, giving the camera your best smize.
“You’re breathtaking, Y/N.” he murmured, a wholesome smirk evident on his face. You couldn’t help but flash a huge, toothy grin at his compliment. As soon as you did, the cameras flashed, signaling that your photo had been taken.
“Beautiful, you guys! That was a perfect photo!” the director praised. “We don’t even need to take a second one. Now just do your thing while we roll the cameras for some b roll.”
“The camera loves us together.” Baekhyun commented, resting his head on your shoulder with a sigh.
You glanced down at him with a teasing side eye, clamping your hands onto the arm he had around your chest. “Well, the camera’s apparantley not the only one.”
“Ah, so sassy for a junior.” he scoffed, leaning closer to your ear. “Someone should teach you a thing or two about respecting your elders.” he hissed out teasingly.
“And are you going to be that someone?” you chuckled, an amused grin making its way onto your expression despite how hard you tried to fight it.
“I might be.” he grinned, rocking you in his arms a bit. “But I’d have to take you out first.”
You turned around to face him, forgetting about the cameras in front of you for a second. “Are you genuinely asking me out on a date?” you inquired.
“That’s usually what someone means when they say they’d like to take you out. Unless they’re an assassin.” he chuckled, placing his hands on your hips.
You laughed nervously, gripping onto his arms with your hands. “Baekhyun, I don’t know if that’s a good idea. I mean, we’re idols. I know we don’t have a dating ban anymore, but it’s still risky.”
“I’m willing to take that chance.” he reassured you, staring into your eyes with a carefree smile. “You’d be worth it, without question.”
You grinned uncontrollably wide, glancing down at the floor bashfully. “I… I just don’t know.”
“Think about it, okay?” he practically pleaded.
You looked up into his big brown puppy dog eyes, which were glimmering with hope and sincerity. It was impossible to say no. “Okay, I will. I promise.”
“That was incredible guys!” the director suddenly interrupted your intimate moment, making you spring away from each other. “Now let’s do some lip synching to the lyrics!”
—————
The fans’ response the collab was amazing. Many were calling it a shoo-in for song of the year, and one of the best decisions SM had ever made.
“Hey Y/N! Have you read the comments on our music video?” Karina asked you as she approached you in the SM hallway on your way back from vocal practice.
“No, I haven’t gotten the chance to yet.” you explained. “Why?”
She raised her eyebrows at you suggestively. “Well, you definitely should. Apparantley there’s a lot about you and a certain main vocalist you were paired up with.”
Your heart sunk. “Oh no, are the fans upset?”
“No, not at all!” your junior chuckled. “In fact, they’re shipping you guys together.”
You couldn’t help the idiotic smile that flashed onto your face. “Really?”
“Yes, so why don’t you just go out with him already? Taeyong and Ten told me he’s absolutely smitten with you!” Karina whined, tugging on your arm slightly.
You rolled your eyes, pushing her away. “Shouldn’t you be getting to your dance practice, Miss Leader?”
She gasped and began to take off down the hall. “Shoot, you’re right! See you later, Y/N!”
You chuckled at her silliness, then leaned up against the wall and whipped out your phone. You pulled up the music video and began scrolling through the comments.
Wow, Y/N and Baekhyun look really good together <3
Y/N-hyun is my new favorite ship 👀
Anyone else think Baekhyun and Y/N would make the best power couple in kpop history???
You let out a baffled scoff at the positive response. Maybe it was silly to be so worried about dating him. Suddenly, you took off down the hallway with renewed purpose, knowing exactly where you had to go.
As you arrived at Baekhyun’s studio, you knocked on the door and waited for him to answer. And he did, peering out with a smile and fixing his hair at the sight of you.
“Y/N? What are you-“
He was cut off by you grabbing his face and delicately pressing your lips against his. It was just a small peck, but it was ever so sweet, and let him know just how you felt about him.
“I thought about it.” you said once you pulled away. “Let’s go out.”
He put his hands on your hips, grinning from ear to ear. “Thank god. I was starting to think you didn’t like me.” He leaned down to kiss you again, longer and more passionately than the last time.

Chen:
“That was awesome, Kaori!” you complimented your maknae from the other side of the recording booth. She had just finished her rap feature for one of the songs on your solo album. “You’re good to go, kid.”
“You sure?” she asked, removing her headphones. “I can stay and help you with the rest if you want.”
“Nah it’s cool, you’re a growing girl. You need your sleep.” you told her with a reassuring smile. “Besides, you know how particular I am about things.”
“Alright mom.” she chuckled, rolling her eyes playfully. “Just don’t pass out in the studio again. Nabi ran all over like a mad woman trying to find you last time.”
“I promise I won’t. I’ll see you back at the dorms in the morning.” you replied, waving her off.
You sighed as the door shut behind her, slumping down in your chair. You moved on to organizing all your tracks and adjusting them to your liking. It was a tedious process, but you knew it would be worth it when your solo album was finally out. You wanted to do this, for yourself and for your fans.
After what felt like a few hours of working, someone came through the door. You huffed irritatedly.
“Kaori, I told you to go to sleep…” you stopped mid-sentence as you realized the person at the door was definitely not Kaori. “Oh, Chen! What are you doing here?”
He chuckled at your sudden change of attitude. “Oh, I was working in the studio at the end of the hall and heard someone tinkering around on my way out. I thought I’d check it out.” He sat down in the chair next to yours. “How long have you been at this?”
You glanced at the clock. How the hell was it 3 am? You sighed before answering him. “Five hours, I suppose”
He pressed his lips together and nodded understandingly. “Yeah, that’s about what I figured. Come on, we’re taking a break.” He patted your shoulder and stood up from his chair.
“What? No, I can’t…” you protested, gesturing to the monitor in front of you.
“You most certainly can.” he retorted, putting his hands on his hips assertively, but still keeping a smile on his face. “Let’s go get you some food and water, and we’ll come right back. It won’t take more than ten minutes.”
You sat there for a moment, just staring at him blankly, not quite knowing what else to say that might make him give up.
“Don’t make me use my dad voice.” he threatened.
“Alright, I’m going…” you sighed defeatedly, grabbing your coat as you stood up and followed him out into the hallway.
—————
He was true to his word, the walk to the convenience store and back only took about ten minutes. You were now back in the recording room, snacks strewn about everywhere, going over your tracks with Chen.
“I think this is really solid!” he complimented you. “Obviously you’ll want to do a few tweaks here and there, but this is really good. You should be proud.”
“Awh, thanks Chen!” you replied gratefully. “One of the things I was thinking about doing was…”
The two of you went back and forth bouncing ideas between each other, adjusting parts of the songs and making them perfect.
“Okay, I’m gonna save your original, but I’ll tweak it how I would do it, and then I’ll show it to you.” he proposed, taking over the sound board. “Just hang tight for a sec, okay?”
“Roger that.” you told him, giving him a thumbs up. You rested your head against your arms, which were folded up on the desk in front of you. Suddenly it hit you how tired you were. Your eyelids felt like they weighed 100 pounds, and the soft clicks of Chen using the keyboard seemed to be lulling you off to sleep like a metronome. Before you could stop yourself, your eyes closed for the last time, and you were dozing off right there in the studio.
“Okay, I’m done…” he stated, swiveling around to face you. He chuckled as he realized you had fallen asleep right next to him. “This kid…” he laughed, shaking his head. He pulled out his phone and snapped a picture of you, posting it on instagram and tagging Etoile’s account.
Hey Starlight, just thought you’d like to know how hard your main vocal is working on her solo album! I know I can’t wait for it to come out!
He clicked the post button, then shoved his phone back in his pocket. He saved all your work, then shut off all the lights and machines. Once everything was taken care of, he grabbed one of your arms and threw you over his back, beginning to carry you back to the dorms.
—————
Needless to say, you were highly confused when you woke up in your own bed the next day. Furrowing your brows, you threw on your slippers and walked out into the dining room to see Nabi and Kaori at the table eating breakfast.
“There’s our sleeping beauty.” Nabi teased with a loving smirk. “Got in pretty late last night, huh?”
“Dude, I don’t even know how I got home.” you yawned, trudging over to the coffee pot.
“Oh, you don’t remember? Chen brought you home!” Kaori told you. “He said you passed out in the studio again.
“Yeah, the fans are talking about the picture he posted. They think it’s super cute.” Nabi explained, pulling up the post on her phone.
You took a sip of your coffee before grabbing the phone from her hand. You smiled as you read the caption, then began scrolling through the comments.
awh, chen is such a good big brother to our y/n! 🥺
thank you for saving y/n from nabi’s wrath XD
look at chen being a proud dad, i’m sobbing 😭
i love the wholesome sibling vibes these two have!
You grinned as you gave Nabi her phone back. “He is kind of like an older brother. That was really sweet of him to bring me home. I should thank him.”
You sat down at the table with your coffee and pulled out your phone, only to see that he had already texted you.
Chen ✌🏻: “Just so you know, I’m making you feature in one of MY solo songs sometime soon. I can already tell your album is going to be huge, and I need your talents 👀”
You laughed at his demanding tone, typing up your own reply.
Y/N 🦢: “aye aye cap’n 🫡 also thanks for getting me home last night :)”
Chen ✌🏻: “No problem, just don’t pass out in the studio again or Nabi and I will BOTH come after you 👊🏻”
“So if you’re my mom, and Chen is your big brother, does that make him my uncle?” Kaori asked with a confused expression.
“I guess so.” you shrugged with a smile. Your found family at SM just seemed to keep growing and growing, but you couldn’t complain. It was nice to work with people who cared about you, and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

Note
Poly Fluff Alphabet a to z request
Lucy Chen x R (Male or GN is 👍) x Celina
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a = affection; is anyone more overly affectionate than the others? when it comes to physical vs verbal, who prefers what?
Celina is more physically affectionate while Lucy is more verbally affectionate. Celina is always holding your hand or touching you in some way while Lucy is always telling you things she loves about you.
b = bed; what’s the sleeping situation like? are there regular sleeping arrangements - does anyone like to sleep alone?
It rotates, usually whoever ends up going to bed first is in the middle because the other two just slide in bed next to them later on.
c = comfort; when someone’s feeling down, how do the rest look after them?
Their favorite take out and ice cream is the go to when someone is feeling down, if they want to talk it out then you have deep conversations about what's wrong and if not then you put on a cheesy comedy movie to take their mind off it.
d = dates; what do dates look like? who usually plans them, or are is it a group affair?
With your busy schedules you don't have a ton of time for date nights outside the house so you take turns planning a date night every other week. Celina usually finds new restaurants to try while Lucy finds art exhibits and museums to check out.
e = events; who drags everyone else to their family/friends’ events?
You guys don't really do many events outside of work events. You do dinners with Lucy's parents, dinner with Celina's mom, dinners with friends… mostly just relaxing dinners to give you a chance to wind down after your exhausting job.
f = fights; are arguments something that happen often? what are they over, and how are they resolved?
You don't really have big fights, it's usually just little spats over nothing when one of you is stressed out over a case. It's typically resolved pretty quickly and apologizes are given over a home cooked meal with dessert being mandatory.
g = getting together; how did it all come about? were there any pre-existing relationships between them?
You and Lucy had been together for a few years before meeting Celina and adding a third to your relationship wasn't something you were looking for but also something that you weren't opposed to. Feelings were communicated but you all decided the best thing to do was to wait on acting on anything until Celina finished her rookie year and once she did explored things from there.
h = hobbies; does anyone share any hobbies/passions? how do they include the rest of their partners in them?
If you enjoy dnd like Celina than the two of you are in the same group that play together and you guys invited Lucy to come sit in on a session to see what it is you guys do for fun, if you aren't into dnd than you and Lucy surprise Celina by showing up to a session with Aaron helping you guys learn the basics beforehand.
i = in sickness and in health - when someone falls ill, who’s the carer and who’s the germaphobe? is there anyone that resists being looked after?
Lucy is absolutely a caregiver when either you or Celina are sick but then when she gets sick she insists she is fine and tries to go about her day until you convince her to go back to bed. Celina will take of you when you are sick but from a distance like yeah i'll make you soup but I'm gonna stay six feet away so I also don't get sick kind of thing.
j = joker; who’s got the best sense of humour? do they like to tease and banter with everyone else?
Lucy is funny but Celina is definitely more of the goofy banter type, Lucy loves listening to you and Celina make silly jokes with each other.
k = knowing; who can read their partners like a book? is there anyone who’s got their walls up, even around their partners?
While Lucy is better at reading body language Celina gets her vibes whenever something is wrong, between the two of them you really can't hide anything.
l = lavish; is there anyone who really likes to treat their partners/show them off? how do the rest tend to react - who revels in it, and who’s made shy by it
I mean you are dating two badass women of course you have to show them off. Lucy can be a little shy about it but deep down she loves it meanwhile Celina is all for it like hell yeah show me off.
m = memories - is anyone more on the sentimental side?
Lucy, she keeps all sorts of pictures and little trinkets to remind her of all the adventures you guys go on.
n = nights; what’s the nighttime routine like when they’re all together?
For the most part you guys work the same shifts so nights are usually dinner, shower, watching some episodes of your favorite TV shows or a movie and then bed. If one of you is working the night shift then you'll get in a quick phone call to check in on each other before the others go to bed.
o = open; how open is everyone with one another?
Communication is key with your relationship so you are all very open with each other.
p = pda; what’s pda like with them? is there anyone who loves it, and anyone who’s less fond of it? what actions/words does it manifest as?
Celina is much more into pda than Lucy, Celina will literally make out with you in a room full of people while Lucy prefers to keep that a little more private, not that she won't get handsy with you in a public place but only when no one else is around.
q = quiet; who prefers to spend their time with their partners out and about, and who likes to spend it at home?
Besides your planned biweekly dates mentioned before you mostly spend your nights at home, your jobs are stressful and you're on your feet all day so it's great to relax at home with them.
r = romantic; is anyone a bit of a sap for their partners
You gotta treat your girls right by doing romantic gestures just to remind them how much you love them, they often find handwritten notes left in their lockers, bubble baths ready for them when they get home etc.
s = sharing; is there anyone who’s particularly territorial of their partners?
Lucy, she looks innocent but can get real scary when it comes to looking out for her partners. One time she was undercover at a bar and you were her back up pretending to be another patron when a girl started flirting with you, Lucy nearly broke cover wanting to put a stop to it.
t = terms of endearment; nicknames! who’s crazy on them, and who do they make cringe? what’re the go-to’s?
Babe and baby are pretty much the only nicknames you guys have for each other, you may have a few joke nicknames based on funny/embarrassing things that happen on calls.
u = urge; who’s the most impulsive? who do they loop into their plans, and who entertains their antics?
Celina can be pretty impulsive and does a lot of things based on the vibes she gets, you usually get wrapped into it following her lead and Lucy has to be the voice of reason to get her to take a step back and think through her actions.
v = vacations; how do holidays go? are they big exotic trips, or the occasional staycation?
Lots of outdoor and scenic vacations, anywhere you can get some good hiking in for example. You've got a map with x's on all the places you've traveled to, Lucy wants to visit every national park in the US.
w = worthy; how are insecurities handled? is anyone more self-conscious than the others?
Lucy has more insecurities but she doesn't try to hide them so it's all about communication and validating her.
x = xoxo; who checks up on their partners a lot when they’re apart? do they call, or are texts enough to make them feel close?
Celina, she is always calling just to check up on you guys and say hi, both Lucy and Celina will always choose a call over a text just to hear your voice.
y = yearn; who misses their partners the easiest (ie, calls them to hear their voices when all they’ve done is run to the grocery store)?
Celina, like previously stated she calls all the time to check in even if you're only out running errands.
z = zealous; who was especially eager in their pursuit of the relationship? was anyone more reserved in their want for it?
Celina was a lot more open to it, for Lucy she was already hesitant enough about dating one coworker back when you first got together and dating two at the same time would definitely make people talk but all of your closest friends were supportive and she stopped caring what anyone else thought.

Survivors.
Pairing: Lucy Chen x reader
Summary: when Lucy has to testify against the serial killer that almost killed her and has a breakdown you are there to remind her she’s okay.
Tumblr media
******************************************************** You stumbled out of your shared bathroom and into the kitchen, still in pajamas, taking in the sight before you of Tamara cooking and Lucy most likely still in your shared bedroom.
“Hey Y/N!” She greeted with a wave of a spatula.
“Good morning sunshine… and what do we have here?” You said peering over her shoulder only to see a sandwich made of pop tarts and eggs.
“Well…” she trailed with the tilt of her head, you chuckled before reaching up to grab a cup and filling it with fresh coffee. Turning around to watch the younger girl cook and make sure she didn’t burn your apartment down, you looked up as you heard the click of heels as Lucy’s perfume wafted into the room.
“Hmm…” she made as curious face, “What is this?”
“Well it’s something I found in clip-tok…”
“The home of all my favorite recipes…” she responded in a sarcastic tone.
“At least try it…” the young girl said watching as your girlfriend picked it up and took a bite.
“Interesting…” Lucy had the most perplexed look on her face as you chuckled and walked around the counter setting a second cup of coffee in front of her.
“Mm now that’s more like it.” She said turning to look up at you the cutest smirk pulling at her lips before you leaned down to kiss her.
“Oookay…” Tamara raised her eyebrows and turned away quickly retreating to grab something from her bedroom as Lucy very shyly ducked her head. You lifted her chin and kissed her again, her hands coming to your sides and pulling you closer by the pockets of your pajama pants.
“Wanna know my favorite part about waking up next to you?”
“Hmm…” she asked softly.
“That I get to kiss your lips every morning, and tell you how amazing and gorgeous you are.” You whispered in her ear hearing her chuckle and hug you tightly, her head settling on your breast listening to your heart beat, easing her anxiety for the day to come.
“Are you gonna be okay today?” You asked softly your tone becoming more serious.
She looked up into your concerned but gentle eyes, “I should be fine, it’s nothing I haven’t told my therapist or even you hundreds of times.” She reasoned.
“But you’ll have to relive all of it… it could be a lot, remember to take breaks, there is nothing wrong with stepping out for a moment.” You said gently rubbing a soothing hand up her bicep.
“And I will be on standby with snacks and plenty of puppy videos, when you need.” Tamara added for reassurance as she came out of her room.
A small chuckle escaped Lucy’s lips before she shyly smiled at you both, “Thank you, both of you.”
“Of course..” Tamara perked up, before turning to go out the door, you and Lucy close behind. You stood one hand on the door as they stepped out, Lucy sliding from your grasp, her hand softly tracing your side one last time.
Lucy turned to kiss you before leaving, “If you need anything today, just call… I’m working with Ang and Nyla, so I’ll have my phone on me.”
“Thank you… thank you for supporting this, I love you.” She leaned up to kiss your lips, quickly before turning to follow after Tamara.
“I love you to.” You called after her before closing the door to get ready for work.
a few hours later and you were at your desk across from your partner, Angela Lopez and Nyla Harper had pulled up a chair sitting next to you.
You reached over and checked your phone for notifications.
“How’s she doing?” Angela asked but was still reading of the case file in front of her.
“Huh?” You asked.
“Your girl, how’s she doing?” She asked again looking up this time.
“Oh um…”
“Girl we see you,” Nyla chuckled, “you check your phone every 15 minutes and every time it goes off, you get disappointed when you see it isn’t her.”
You rolled your eyes before letting out a small laugh and looking up to the two women, “I’m just a little on edge, I know what reliving a trauma like that is like especially in court… so I’m just hoping she’s okay is all.”
“Maybe you should give her a call?” Angela suggested with a shrug.
“I texted her, if I call it’ll stress her out even more.” You explained and they both watched as you returned to the case file in front of you.
—————
You stood and fixed your suit jacket as you sat arms crossed in the briefing room, standing to stretch your muscles. The three of you had been using the monitors to review footage and had boards covered in papers and written notes for the case.
You paced away as Angela let her head fall forward onto the desk, that’s when you heard buzzing and Nyla pointed to your phone. You quickly checked and saw Tamara was calling.
“Hey Tamara, everything okay?” You quickly answered.
“I don’t think so… it’s Lucy.”
“What’s wrong?” You asked, and the other two women perked up at your concerned tone of voice.
“Well they’ve been asking her some pretty hard questions and she seemed off and then Chris was humming the song on accident, he told her about the video and she wants to see it.”
“Oh my God the video…”
“I think you need to get over here asap.”
“okay on my way.” You said before getting questioning looks from the other two detectives.
“Chris Sanford was singing the damn song, he’s seen the video and just used it against her in court prep, I gotta go.”
“Oh he didn’t.” Angela responded, getting defensive in support of the other officer.
“Just go get your girl, we’ll be here.” Nyla said waving you out the door but you were already running towards your car.
When you go to the DA’s office you quickly parked before running inside, the secretary trying to stop you.
“Um ma’am you can’t…” she stood to call out to you as you ran past.
“Police business…” you said flashing the golden badge on your belt.
You willed the elevator to go faster and when it jolted to a stop you took a deep breath before hearing the door slide open with a ding resounding. Slowly stepping off you looked around and spotted Tamara, walking up to her.
“Hey…”
“Oh hey, she’s in there with Chris right now.”
“Okay, thanks,” you squeezed her arm before stepping towards the room, you knocked before you opened the door.
“Lucy I’m sorry I didn’t mean…”
“You and half the lawyers in this building have seen that video and never told me…” she said back not acknowledging you just yet.
“I didn’t think…”
“I need a minute…” she said, “I need a minute.”
He looked at her apologetically one last time before he rushed past you. You watched as she started to pace back and forth and slowly you approached her.
“Lucy?” You kept your distance enough to let her have some space before she started to break down in tears.
“Y/N… I-I can’t…” she stopped pacing a stood running a hand through her hair, tears pricking her eyes as she looked around the room. She finally stepped towards you, and you reached out wrapping her in your arms, one hand came to her hair and the other wrapped around her as she buried her face in the crook of your neck, her tears staining your shirt. Her hands grasped at your jacket, her body wracked with sobs as she cried in your arms.
“It hurts…” she whispered. “Y/N it hurts, I can feel it… it hurts.” She repeated one of her hands coming to her side and gripping her shirt.
“What hurts, baby what hurts?” Slowly you pulled her back and examined her face, you saw her rubbing her side and it dawned on you. Her breathing becoming shallow with the start of a panic attack, you quickly slid your hand under her shirt, the cool skin of your palm coming into contact with the hot skin of where she had been branded with her ‘date of death’.
“I… it just…” she said fighting back the tears one hand reaching out for your shoulder.
“It’s not there… it’s gone, Lucy, baby look at me.” Her other hand came to cover yours that was on her side, her tear filled eyes looking into yours.
“You’re safe, I’m right here with you and you’re safe.” You hugged her again this time you could feel her breathing slowly evening out as she tucked her head into the crook of your neck again breathing in the familiar scent of your perfume.
“I um… I don’t know why I’m trying to prove that I can handle this that I’m strong enough.” She explained, letting her forehead rest under your chin, wrapping her arms around your waist, you rubbed her back in soothing circles as she spoke, she slowly pulled back to look into your eyes, “I don’t want to do this.”
“Lucy,” you moved your hand to her cheek swiping tears away with your thumb, “you don’t have to prove anything to anyone, you survived… that proves enough in my book.”
“I don’t need to prove anything at all.” She said out loud.
“Exactly…” you kissed her forehead softly.
“I don’t want to testify then, I don’t need to keep reliving this.”
“no you don’t.” You agreed.
“Lucy it’s Chris and Tamara… we’re coming in…” you heard a knock as the door opened revealing both a concerned Chris and Tamara.
Tamara looked at the two of you realizing that calling you was the best decision and before Chirs could ask Lucy informed him that she wouldn’t be testifying. He agreed before watching the three of you leave the conference room.
“So…I’ll cook tonight.” Tamara stated with a proud grin.
“Another clip-tok recipe?” Lucy grimaced before a handsome young man stopped all of you and was talking to Tamara. You shared a knowing look with Lucy and watched the entire interaction before sending them off on their little date.
“Are you sure?” Tamara asked one last time.
“I’m sure…” Lucy assured her.
“Don’t worry I’ll cook for her.” You winked before smirking at the two young teens running off.
“Mm I do like when you cook.” Lucy let out a little whimper of appreciation.
“anything for my love.” You teased placing a kiss onto her head, breathing in the scent of her hair.
“Thank you for today, for rushing here so fast.”
“Like I said, anything… my job is to serve and protect and that also means protecting you even when off duty… Cause I love you Lucy Chen.”
She let out a little chuckle, “And I love you too, Y/N.”

hii i absolutely love your rookie series!! would you be open to writing something with tim and his boot slowly moving in with each other?? they leave things around his house during their father-kid bonding sessions (although he definitely denies it to the others) and just slowly starts to stay over at his place more often than their own. it gets to the point where they just permanently move in for comfort sake, maybe after something traumatic happens??
sorry if this is too specific or long T^T. love the series!!! tysm for writing for us ♡
Let’s go home, kid.
Tim Bradford x Rookie!reader [PLATONIC] — Masterlist
A/N: Hi, sweetheart! Don’t apologise, I love when you guys are specific about what you guys would like to read! 💞 Especially because this idea is super cute! (P.S, this is a separate storyline from my series, Like father, Like rookie, but you guys can imagine that it is if that’s why you guys like!)
Summary: What started as casual hangouts turned into something unspoken. Your things ended up in his house, and he never asked you to take them back. Then, after that night, he didn’t take you to your apartment—he took you home. His home. Maybe it had been yours all along.
Tumblr media
It started with a rainstorm.
A bad one.
The kind that turned the streets into slick, flooded hazards and made every shift feel like a fight against nature itself.
By the time you and Tim wrapped up your last call for the night, you were both drenched—cold, exhausted, and in no mood to deal with LA’s nightmare traffic.
Tim had fully intended to just drop you off at your place. But when you slumped in the passenger seat, shivering, eyes heavy with fatigue, he sighed and made a split-second decision.
“Alright, Kid,” he muttered, flicking the blinker on. “You’re coming to mine.”
You barely stirred, half-asleep against the window. “Huh?”
“You’re soaked, I’m not leaving you to get sick and have a snotty rookie in my shop tomorrow,” he said gruffly. “You’ll crash at mine for the night.”
You didn’t argue. Didn’t even question it. Didn’t even roll your eyes at the ‘snotty rookie’ comment. Just let out a quiet, “M’kay,” and dozed off to the soft platters of the rain against the windows again.
Tim tried not to think about how much trust that meant you had in him.
By the time he pulled into his driveway, you were awake again—barely. He tossed you a hoodie and a towel, pointed you toward the bathroom, and made sure you had something warm to eat before you inevitably crashed on the couch.
He hadn’t expected it to happen again.
But then the next time a shift ran late, it was “Might as well stay, kid. Saves you the drive and I’d rather not have you asking for gas money again like an overgrown 16 year old who just got their first car.”
Then it was “I already got takeout, no point in you getting your own.” Matched with a classic Tim remark—“I’m not surprised you didn’t listen to the lessons about saving money in high school.”
It wasn’t intentional.
At least, that’s what Tim told himself the first time he spotted something of yours in his apartment.
It was small—a phone charger, coiled neatly on his kitchen counter. He hadn’t thought much of it at first. Just a forgotten item from one of those late night shifts that had you too exhausted to go home, totally not one of your your so-called “father-kid bonding sessions” (which he definitely did not call or acknowledge them).
Then it was a sweatshirt draped over the back of his couch. A spare uniform shirt folded in the corner of his laundry room. A six-pack of your favorite energy drinks shoved into his fridge.
Tim frowned at that one.
He distinctly remembered watching you put it in the cart last time you’d gone grocery shopping—not together, obviously—but somehow, it had ended up in his apartment. He hadn’t even noticed you stashing it away.
Then, something else.
A toothbrush.
Tim stared at the new addition to his bathroom counter, arms crossed, mouth pulled into a tight line.
This was getting out of hand.
He’d meant to bring it up. Ask when exactly you’d decided his place was an extension of yours.
Somewhere along the way, the father-kid bonding sessions had stopped being something he tolerated and turned into something he… looked forward to.
Not that he’d ever admit that.
Not even to himself.
Maybe it was because, despite how much he grumbled about it at work, the house felt less empty with your things scattered around. Maybe it was because your presence had stopped feeling like an intrusion and more like something inevitable.
Then came the real kicker—the night you crashed without a reason.
No rainstorm, no late shift, no excuse. Just you, wandering into his house after work with a bag of takeout and a casual, “Hey, figured I’d stop by.”
Tim had stared at you for a good five seconds.
You blinked back, unbothered, before holding up the bag. “I got your usual.”
He sighed, rubbing a hand down his face. “You do realize you have your own place, right?”
You shrugged, toeing off your shoes. “Yeah, but your WiFi’s better.”
Tim rolled his eyes. “Unbelievable.”
But he still took the takeout from your hands, setting it on the counter. And when you flopped onto his couch like you’d done it a hundred times before, flipping through his TV channels, he didn’t argue.
Tumblr media
As much as Tim would’ve liked to keep it under wraps that you and him have somehow slipped into the routine of you being at his—Mid-Wilshire wasn’t as gullible as he’d like.
The teasing started slow.
At first, it was just Lopez giving Tim a pointed look when you and him walked into roll call together, both holding coffee cups that looked suspiciously like they came from the same place.
Then Nyla got in on it. “So,” she mused one morning, eyes flicking between the two of you, “you two just happened to arrive at the exact same time? Again?”
Tim didn’t even look up from his clipboard. “Traffic.”
Jackson, always the instigator that knew just how to add the right amount of fuel to the fire, smirked. “Yeah, traffic. Right, Boot?”
You just took a sip of your coffee, completely unfazed. “If I say yes, do I still get a good eval this month?”
Tim shot you a flat look.
Lucy was the one who finally pushed him over the edge. “You know,” she started, an innocent lilt in her voice, “it’s funny. I lived with you for a while, and I still got called ‘Boot.’ But them?” She nodded toward you. “Kid.”
The room hummed with interest.
Tim set his clipboard down with a sigh. “We’ve been over this before. They act like a kid, they get called one.”
Lucy snorted. “Sure, Dad.”
Tim’s jaw twitched like he wanted to just quit right then and there, God forbid. “I’m not their dad.”
Lopez grinned. “Oh? Then why do you two carpool?”
“Because I—” Tim clenched his jaw. “We don’t carpool.”
Jackson laughed. “Oh, yeah? Then why’d I see you waiting outside your truck for them the other morning?”
“I wasn’t waiting for them.”
Lucy crossed her arms. “Mhm. And why’d I hear them say, ‘I left my charger at home’ the other day, and then magically a charger appeared at their desk five minutes later?”
“Coincidence.”
Lopez tapped her chin. “And why did I hear them say they didn’t have food at home last week, and then, the next morning, hear them say, ‘Tim, your fridge is looking kinda empty’?”
Tim scowled. “We don’t live together.”
The whole room went quiet.
Then Grey’s voice cut through the silence. “Yet.”
Tim’s head snapped toward him. “Sir.”
Grey just raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.
You, meanwhile, were quietly enjoying your coffee like this had nothing to do with you.
And then, a few weeks later, the teasing stopped.
Not because it became routine to those back at Mid-Wilshire for you and Tim to live together.
Not because Tim snapped and told them to shut up about it. Not that they’d ever listen to him anyways.
Because something happened.
Something bad.
And suddenly, it wasn’t just you leaving things behind.
It wasn’t just staying over for convenience.
It was necessity.
Because after what happened, you couldn’t go back.
Tumblr media
It was supposed to be a routine call.
Simple, in and out.
But those were always the ones that went sideways.
It happened so fast. One second, you were clearing a room, and the next—
Gunfire.
Searing pain in your side.
The world tilting as your legs gave out beneath you. You barely registered hitting the ground, too busy trying to force air into your lungs as panic clawed at your chest.
Then Tim was there. Dropping to his knees beside you, pressing his hands hard against the wound.
“Stay with me, kid.” His voice was sharp, but his eyes—his eyes were afraid.
You tried to stay calm, tried to keep your face blank like he’d taught you. But the pain was overwhelming, and your breath hitched, and suddenly, tears were pricking at your eyes, hot and unwelcome.
Tim’s expression barely shifted, but his grip on you tightened. “Hey, hey. You’re okay. We’ve got you—I’ve got you.”
His hand shook.
The sirens in the distance blurred into white noise.
You tried to speak, but all that came out was a ragged breath.
Tim swallowed hard. “I need you to breathe, kid. You hear me?”
You nodded weakly, trying to focus on his voice.
Trying not to focus on the blood pooling around you.
And then, darkness.
Tumblr media
The hospital was quiet.
Tim sat at your bedside, staring at the IV in your arm, jaw clenched so tight it ached.
He hadn’t moved in hours.
Hadn’t let himself breathe properly since the second you hit the ground.
And now, as he sat there, watching the steady rise and fall of your chest, all he could think was:
This is my fault.
He should’ve checked the room himself. Should’ve had you cover the door instead. Should’ve done something different.
He ran a hand down his face, exhaling sharply. “I shouldn’t have let this happen.”
Silence.
Then—
A weak, hoarse voice.
“…wasn’t your fault, sir.”
Tim’s head snapped up.
Your eyes were barely open, heavy with exhaustion and pain meds. But there was no mistaking the way you looked at him—so sure, even now.
His throat tightened. “You got shot.”
You huffed a small, breathless laugh. “Yeah, I noticed.”
Tim’s jaw worked. “You almost—” He cut himself off, shaking his head. “You should’ve never been in that position.”
You blinked at him, tired but steady. “And if it were you? If you got shot, would you be sitting here blaming yourself?”
His silence was answer enough.
You gave him a small, knowing smile. “Didn’t think so.”
Tim exhaled slowly, rubbing his hands together. “You scared the hell out of me, Kid.”
“Sorry,” you murmured, voice barely above a whisper.
He shook his head. “Don’t apologize. Just—” He swallowed hard. “Just don’t do it again.”
You let out a weak chuckle. “I’ll try.”
And for the first time in hours, Tim let himself breathe.
Tumblr media
You didn’t go home after you were discharged.
Because when it came time to leave the hospital, your legs still felt unsteady. Your apartment felt too empty.
And the nightmares—
Well. You weren’t ready to face them alone.
Tim didn’t ask questions. Didn’t make a big deal out of it. He just grabbed your bag and said—
“Let’s go home, kid.”
And somehow, that was enough.
The ride was quiet.
Not uncomfortable—just quiet.
Tim’s truck rumbled beneath you, headlights cutting through the dim evening, but neither of you said much because there was nothing to say.
Something unspoken had already been agreed upon.
When Tim said, Let’s go home, kid, you knew.
Knew that the home he was referring to wasn’t your apartment. It was his. And neither of you needed to say otherwise.
And so, the stop at your apartment was quick.
You moved through the space with a detached sort of efficiency, grabbing only what you needed. Clothes, a toothbrush, a few things you’d be annoyed not to have later.
Tim stayed quiet, standing near the door, arms crossed. Not pushing, not rushing—just there.
Watching.
Making sure you didn’t hesitate on whether or not you wanted to stay here, or go to his.
You didn’t. You never were one to when it came to staying over.
But when you went to grab your bag, slinging it over your shoulder, the sharp pull of your wound made you wince.
It was subtle. Barely even a flinch. But Tim caught it.
And without a word, he stepped forward, plucked the bag out of your hands, and slung it over his own shoulder instead.
Like it was the most natural thing in the world.
His free hand ruffled your hair as he passed. “C’mon, kid.”
You huffed but didn’t protest, following him out the door, and never once did you look back.
Tim’s place felt…
Safe.
Not in the way a fortress felt safe. Not in the way an apartment with deadbolts and security cameras felt safe.
It was different.
The kind of safe that was quiet. Steady. Unquestioned. Like you could close your eyes here and not feel on edge.
Tim dropped your bag in the spare room without ceremony, moving through the house like it was just another night. He tossed his keys on the counter, opened the fridge, pulled out a couple of bottles of water.
“You hungry?” he asked, like you hadn’t just gotten out of the hospital. Like you hadn’t just been shot. Like you were just here because—
Because you were here.
Like it was normal.
And maybe, in some way, it was.
You shook your head, taking the water he offered. “Not really.”
Tim just nodded, popping open his own bottle. “Let me know if that changes.”
It wasn’t a command. Just a quiet acknowledgment.
An unspoken you’re allowed to need things here. And for the first time in days, your chest felt a little lighter.
Moments blurred as the two of you settled in. The weight of the contrast between the last time you were at his and now was heavier than the two of you expected.
The TV flickered, casting dim light across the living room. Some random movie played in the background—not that either of you were really watching it.
You were curled into the corner of the couch, a blanket draped over your legs, eyes half-lidded with exhaustion but stubbornly refusing to sleep.
Tim sat on the other end, one arm resting along the back of the couch, water bottle still in his grip.
The room was quiet, but it wasn’t empty.
Not like his house usually was, not with you here.
He glanced over at you, taking in the way your shoulders had finally started to relax, the way you looked comfortable for the first time in days ever since the days you spent in the hospital before being discharged.
And something settled in his chest.
At first, he’d thought he was letting you stay because you needed it. Because you needed space, needed to feel safe. Because, after everything, you deserved that.
But sitting here now, watching the way your breathing had evened out, the way the tension had finally bled from your frame—
He realized the truth.
He needed you here.
More than you needed him.
Tim sighed, shaking his head to himself, a bittersweet revelation that hit him like a truck rooted from you quite literally bleeding out in his arms.
He reached over, ruffled your hair just enough to be annoying.
Your tired grumble made him huff a quiet laugh.
“Go to sleep, kid.”
And this time?
You did.

For the past three years, your life took unexpected twists, one after one. You didn't know back then how impactful a police officer doing his job would be to your life. You never expected to fall for the all-so-serious officer, whose indignation spoke volumes in the presence of firefighters.
Tim had only one opinion about the other branch of first responders — reckless, not so sharp, and definitely idiots, but they mean well. That was before meeting you.
After a massive earthquake hit LA, the chaos that followed can't be described. People running around looking for the close ones, screaming, and a lot of pain. LAPD was sent on the streets to maintain order while LAFD rushed to rescue everyone in need. They were hand in hand and, for the first time in his life, Tim was following the orders of a firefighter— you.
He complained at first, but when he understood you were more than a reckless woman, he obeyed. Back then, Tim saw in you a seriousness that made him eat his words. The way you pushed yourself aside for the safety of the civilians, the way you disobeyed the book in a risky situation, questioning everything you knew for the people. You allowed him to help, and he was there by your side the whole time, mesmerised by the way you gave everything you had, pushed away any fear and doubts and crawled into wrecked precincts to save every single one of them.
There was a huge difference between the two branches of first responders. LAPD was trained to save the law, maintain order, protect the vulnerable and punish the guilty, while LAFD was trained to protect and save regarding the guilty and they've seen unimaginable things, making them aware the life is short and you need to cherish it every second.
And when you showed him that ugly side of your job, Tim never saw you the same again. Drawn by your determination and dedication to save every soul and by your love and beauty you carried around, he fell for you, hard.
But he never accepted the real dangers of your job. Actually, he never accepted that your dedication was so profound, that you'd give your life to save another without second thoughts. He couldn't bare the thought of losing you some day due to your 'dedication'.

You’re both standing in the middle of the living room, the air thick with tension that’s been building for weeks. Tonight’s argument was inevitable, ignited by the underlying fear and frustration that’s been simmering beneath the surface.
Tim’s heart pounds in his chest as he looks at you, his concern turning into frustration. He knows that firefighting is dangerous, but seeing you take unnecessary risks feels like a constant weight on his shoulders.
“Damn it, Y/N!” he exclaims, his voice loud and filled with anger. “You can’t keep ignoring orders and putting yourself in danger! You’re a firefighter, not a one-woman hero team!”
You clench your fists, feeling defensive, his words sounding like an accusation. “I know what I’m doing, Tim. Sometimes you have to take risks to save lives.”
“Fire isn’t something predictable,” Tim interjects, his voice firm. “When you're dealing with an armed suspect, you can see the next move in his eyes. But with fire? It's nothing like that and, when it happens, it's probably too late."
His words cut deep, and tears fill your eyes as you try to make him understand. You feel misunderstood, judged, and it hurts.
“Predictable or not, I trust my instincts,” you shoot back, your voice shaking. “Sometimes you have to go with your gut, Tim, not just follow orders blindly.”
"But at what cost?” Tim retorts, his face flushed with frustration. “How many times do we have to argue about this before you realize that you’re not invincible?”
Your eyes fill with tears, the weight of his words hitting you hard. “I’m not saying I’m invincible,” you reply, tears streaming down your face. “I just believe in doing whatever it takes to save lives, even if it means bending the rules sometimes.”
“Bending the rules?” Tim’s voice cracks, hurt evident in his expression. “Y/N, this isn’t a game. Lives are at stake, including yours!”
You’re openly crying now, the tears blurring your vision as you try to make him understand. “I need you to trust me, Tim. Trust that I know what I’m doing.”
“I need to be able to trust that you’ll come home safely,” Tim says, his voice softer now, filled with genuine concern. “I can’t keep worrying every time you’re on shift, wondering if you’re going to make it home in one piece.”
"But this is who I am, Tim. I can’t change that.”
Tim’s thoughts swirl with a mix of love, fear, and frustration as he watches you, torn between wanting to protect you and knowing he can’t control your choices. “I need some time to think,” he finally says, his voice filled with resignation.
Without another word, you grab your bag and head for the door, leaving Tim standing alone in the living room, his face a mask of regret and worry. As you make your way to Lucy’s apartment, the weight of the argument pressing down on you, you can’t shake the feeling that something has changed between you and Tim, something that might be impossible to repair.
Tumblr media
You stand before Lucy’s door, eyes red-rimmed and cheeks streaked with tears. With a shaky breath, you knock softly as your heart is pounding in your chest. The door swings open to reveal Lucy’s shocked face, her eyes widening at your disheveled appearance.
“Y/N? What the hell happened?” Lucy’s voice is filled with concern as she wraps you in a comforting embrace, feeling the tension in your body.
Tamara rushes in, eyes wide with worry. "Are you okay?”
As Lucy's comforting embrace envelops you, a mixture of relief and despair washes over you. You lean into her warmth, grateful for the solace she provides amidst the chaos of your emotions. Tamara's worried expression only adds to the weight of the situation, highlighting the gravity of the rift between you and Tim.
"I’m so sorry,” you stammer, tears threatening anew. “I didn’t know where else to go. I can't go to Buck like this and –"”
Lucy steps back, creating space for you to enter, "You're always welcome here, Y/N. You know that."
Lucy leads you to the couch and wraps her arm around your shoulders as you found a small measure of comfort in her presence. The unspoken understanding between you eases some of the ache in your heart, reminding you that you're not alone in this struggle.
Tamara places a comforting hand on your knee, her eyes filled with empathy as Lucy spoke, “Come on, tell us what happened."
You take a shaky breath, trying to steady your voice as you recount the intense argument with Tim. “We had a fight, a really bad one. He said he needed some time to think.”
Your love for Tim is boundless, a deep-rooted connection that fills your heart with warmth and joy. Every moment spent with him is a treasure, each shared smile and whispered promise a testament to the depth of your affection. And being so far from him, it was a nightmare. Leaving so abruptly, both of your anger and frustration bottled inside, this tore you apart.
Tamara’s eyes narrow, her tone incredulous. “Tim said that? What could possibly have happened?”
“He thinks I’m reckless, that I put myself and my team in danger,” you explain, the sting of his words still fresh in your mind.
The pain of your fight weighs heavily on your soul, a sharp ache that refuses to fade. His words cut deep, leaving you reeling with a sense of loss and betrayal. The thought of losing him, of facing a future without his love, is almost unbearable.
Lucy shakes her head, her eyes filled with empathy. “Tim’s always been by-the-book. He values rules and order. But being a firefighter isn’t always black and white.”
You nod, wiping away tears with the back of your hand. “Exactly. But he just won't listen.”
Lucy sighs, her eyes softening with understanding. “Tim loves you. He’s just scared. Scared of losing you.” She can see the pain in your eyes, the uncertainty about the future of your relationship.
“I know,” you sniffle, trying to hold back the tears. “But it’s not just about him being scared. It’s about understanding who I am and what I do.”
Tamara nods, her expression thoughtful. “Sometimes love isn’t enough, Y/N. Sometimes two people can love each other deeply but still be incompatible in some ways.”
“I don’t want to lose him,” you say, feeling the weight of her words. “But I also don’t want to lose myself.” You grapple with the conflicting emotions, torn between love and self-respect.
Lucy chuckles softly, trying to lighten the mood. She stands up, heading to the kitchen to prepare some tea. “You won't lose him. He’s stubborn as hell, but he loves you. You know that."
Tamara smirks, leaning back on the couch. “Well, men are from Mars, right? We’ll never fully understand them.”
Lucy laughs, raising her hands in mock surrender. “True that. But hey, if anyone can knock some sense into Tim, it’s you, Y/N.”
Tamara smirks, her eyes twinkling with mischief as she leans back on the couch. “You know, Y/N, I like you more and more. Just so you know, everything you’ve said tonight will be used against Tim tomorrow.” She winks playfully, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. “Lucy’s going to make his shift a living hell.”
Lucy chuckles, her eyes dancing with amusement. “Oh, you bet I will. He won’t know what hit him.” She laughs, the tension in the room further dissipating with their playful banter.
You can’t help but laugh along with them, grateful for the light-hearted moment amidst the emotional chaos. “Just promise me you’ll go easy on him. He’s still my guy, after all.”
Yet, even in the midst of your despair, your love for him remains steadfast. It is a beacon of hope in the darkness, a guiding light that keeps you tethered to him, even when the distance between you feels insurmountable.
Tamara raises an eyebrow, her grin widening. “No promises,” Lucy says with a playful shrug.
You shake your head, chuckling at their antics. “Alright, alright. Just remember, I’ll have to deal with him after you two are done.”
After a moment of silence, Tamara's face brightens, an idea forming. “You know what we need? A girls’ night. We could all use a little distraction, right?”
Lucy grins, nodding in agreement. “Absolutely. Some wine, some movies, and some girl talk. It’s just what the doctor ordered.”
You smile weakly, grateful for their support. “That sounds nice.”
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, across town, Tim and Buck find themselves in the comfort of Tim's living room. With beers in hand and the soft glow of the TV providing background noise, both men seem to have left the weight of the day behind them, engrossed in their own world of laughter and banter.
But Tim's thoughts are consumed by the image of you, tears staining your cheeks as you walked out the door. Each memory of your tearful departure cuts him deeply, a sharp pang of guilt and sorrow gnawing at his heart.
Buck takes a swig of his beer, glancing over at him with a curious expression. “So, how did the fight go?”
Tim sighs, running a hand through his hair. "I think I overstepped a little. She was crying and she left. It broke me to see her like that and let her go."
Seeing you hurt because of him breaks him in ways he never imagined. He would give anything to erase the hurt he's caused, to mend the fractures in your relationship. But he knows that sometimes love requires sacrifice, even if it means bearing the weight of your pain.
Buck nods understandingly, setting his beer down on the coffee table. "It's all part of the plan, Tim. We knew it would be tough, but it's for the best." He tries to reassure Tim, understanding the struggle his friend is going through.
Tim looks at Buck, gratitude in his eyes. "I know, I know. It's just hard, you know? Seeing her hurt and knowing I'm the cause of it, even if it's for a good reason."
Buck places a comforting hand on Tim's shoulder. "At least this will buy us some time. Where's she now?"
Tim smiles slightly, the tension easing from his shoulders. "At Lucy's. She texted me when Y/N got there. She'll be crashing on Lucy's couch."
Buck chuckles, picking up his beer again. "Good, at least she's safe. Lucy will take care of her. She always does."
Tim nods, a grateful smile tugging at his lips. "Yeah, Lucy's been great. I'm glad she's there for Y/N."
The two men sit in companionable silence for a moment, the weight of their secret plan hanging in the air between them. It's a plan born out of love and a desire to create the perfect proposal for you, but it comes with its own set of challenges and emotions.
Buck's voice is filled with excitement. "You know, once all of this is over, and you've proposed, it's going to be amazing. Y/N is going to be over the moon."
Tim smiles, the vision of his future with you filling his mind. "I know, Buck. I can't wait to make her my wife."
Amidst the pain, there's a profound love that anchors him, a love so deep it eclipses the darkness of your current strife. You're more than just his partner; you're his rock, his solace, his reason for waking up each day with a smile. Your laughter brightens his darkest moments, your touch soothes his weary soul, and your presence fills his life with a sense of purpose and joy he never thought possible.
The two men raise their beers in a toast, their smiles reflecting the hope and love that fills their hearts.
Tumblr media
Tim glances over at Lucy, his voice filled with concern. "How's Y/N holding up? I haven't heard from her since that night."
He can't shake the self-loathing that grips him, the regret for letting things escalate to this point.
Lucy raises an eyebrow, a playful smirk on her lips. "A bit pissed at you, but she's safe."
"I hate myself for that. I really don't like this whole...situation. Especially letting her go and forcing her to sleep on your couch."
He never wanted to hurt you, never intended for things to unravel like this. And the idea of you sleeping on Lucy's couch, away from him, fills him with a sense of emptiness he can't bear.
She chuckles softly, her tone teasing. "You could've called, you know. Women like that kind of thing."
Tim lets out a sigh, a sheepish smile tugging at his lips. "Yeah, I figured as much. I just thought... well, some space might be good."
Lucy's teasing only adds to his discomfort, her playful jabs hitting a little too close to home. He knows he should have done a lot of things, but fear and uncertainty held him back, clouding his judgment with doubt.
Lucy raises an eyebrow, “Space, huh? Sounds like a classic Bradford move. But you might want to pick up the phone. Y/N deserves to know you’re not pushing her away.”
Tim chuckles, shaking his head. "Trust me, I plan to. I just needed some time to... you know, plan everything out, to get it right."
Lucy grins, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "But you better make this worth it, you hear me?" She nudges him playfully. "And soon. She might love you and might be willing to wait for you, but don't test her patience."
Tim smiles, gratitude evident in his gaze. "I will, Lucy. And thanks, for everything."
Lucy waves him off with a chuckle. "Don't mention it. Just remember to thank me after she says yes." She winks at him, her smile warm and supportive.

You've been camping on the girls' couch for the past three days. It wasn't all that bad; some time off work was just what you needed, and your fight with Tim allowed you to sort through some old stuff.
When you were about to drift off to sleep again, Lucy burst into the living room. "Alright, couch potato, time to get up!”
You groaned, pulling a pillow over your face. “Five more minutes, Lucy.”
With a chuckle, Lucy yanked the pillow away and extended her hand. “Come on, Y/N. It’s time to get some fresh air. You can’t stay on my couch forever.”
Reluctantly, you accepted Lucy’s help to sit up. “What happened to ‘you’re always welcome here’? My free stay at Hotel Lucy is over?”
Lucy laughed. “Exactly. It’s check-out time, Missy.”
You smirked, slipping on your sneakers. "Well, send the bill to Bradford; he's the only one at fault for this."
With her keys in hand, Lucy grinned. “How about a ride along? A little patrol action might be good for you.”
Raising an eyebrow teasingly, you countered, “Trying to get rid of me, Lucy?”
She chuckled. “Just trying to help you get some fresh air. And maybe a little distraction.”
As you reluctantly rose from the comfort of Lucy's couch, a whirlwind of emotions churned within you. The past few days had been a rollercoaster of hurt, confusion, and a desperate longing to mend things with Tim. But amidst the chaos, there was a glimmer of hope – hope that today could mark the beginning of reconciliation, of healing the wounds that had torn you apart.
“Alright, alright. But only because I’m craving some fresh, questionable coffee from the station.”
“Deal. But you’re buying the donuts!” Lucy teased.
“Deal. But only if they have sprinkles.”
Suddenly, Lucy stopped and appraised you, shaking her head. “Oh no, no. You can’t possibly leave the house like that. Off to the shower with you, you’re starting to smell like my couch.”
Stepping into the shower, the warm water washing away the remnants of doubt and insecurity as you made a silent vow to yourself. Today would be the beginning of a new chapter for you both, a chance to rebuild what had been broken and to forge a stronger, more resilient bond.
You returned to find some of your clothes laid out on the couch, courtesy of Lucy and Tamara. Raising an eyebrow, you turned to Lucy. “Don’t you think that’s a little bit extra?”
It wasn't exactly what you'd wear for patrolling, but considering Tim probably handed them to Lucy, you couldn't really complain.
Just then, Tamara emerged from her bedroom with a smirk. “You should be thankful I didn’t pick the outfit.”
You chuckled, wondering why she wasn’t at school. “Fair enough. Shouldn’t you be at school by now?”
Tamara waved it off, pulling out her makeup kit. “I’ll miss the first period to do your makeup. You owe me.”
Sighing, you looked between Lucy and Tamara. “Come on, girls. It’s just a day of patrolling. Nothing special.”
Lucy shook her head, her eyes serious. “No, hun. Today you’ll be right next to Tim. Breathing in his neck. You need to show him what he’s missing.”
Tumblr media
The engine's soft hum reverberates through the car as Tim navigates the streets, the tension inside as thick as the fog rolling in from the bay. Lucy rides shotgun, her mischievous glances back at you adding to the palpable unease. Seated in the back, you stare out the window, attempting to distract yourself with the passing scenery, anything to escape the suffocating silence.
Lucy's voice cuts through the tension like a knife, her cheeriness a stark contrast to the heavy atmosphere. "Hey, Bradford," she chirps. "How about we make a quick stop for some coffee and donuts? My treat."
Tim's eyes flicker to the rearview mirror, briefly meeting yours before he nods. "Sure, sounds good."
Pulling into a local coffee shop's parking lot, Lucy practically leaps out of the car, leaving you and Tim alone for a fleeting moment.
"You could've called," you murmur softly, finally breaking the suffocating silence. "Three days, Tim."
Tim's grip tightens on the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white. "I know, Y/N. I'm sorry. It's... it's complicated."
Before you can delve deeper, Lucy returns with a tray laden with coffee and a box of donuts. She hands you a cup before settling into her seat, her eyes glinting with an inscrutable knowingness.
As Tim lifts his coffee to his lips, you notice the slight tremble in his hand. "Everything okay, Tim?" Lucy inquires, her innocence a thin veil over her ulterior motives.
Tim clears his throat, averting his gaze. "Yeah, just a bit tired, I guess."
Lucy's smirk is unmistakable as she reaches for a donut. "Well, these should help with that."
Taking a sip of your coffee, you feel its warmth spreading through you, but it does little to dispel the tension in the air. However, there's a shift—a subtle change in the atmosphere. The silence is no longer suffocating; instead, it's pregnant with anticipation, each breath heavy with unspoken words.
Finally, Tim speaks, his voice laced with vulnerability. "Y/N, about the fight... I never meant to hurt you. I just needed some time to sort things out."
You meet his gaze, the sincerity in his eyes tugging at something deep within you. There's a weight to his words, a heaviness that speaks volumes about the distress he's been wrestling with.
As the shop continues its journey, the tension remains, but it's tempered now by a sense of curiosity and cautious hope. Unbeknownst to you, Tim's anxiety isn't solely about your relationship, and Lucy's scheming grin betrays her satisfaction with how her plan is unfolding.
Throughout the day, Tim's behavior had been perplexing, he carefully avoided any calls that hinted at danger. It felt as though he was intentionally shielding you from harm, a protective barrier wrapped around you even as you yearned for the adrenaline rush of the job.
But the tranquility of the day shattered with Nolan's urgent call for backup. The gravity of the situation hit you like a sledgehammer, sending a jolt of adrenaline coursing through your veins.
“Dispatch, this is Officer Nolan, requesting backup at my location. Officers under fire, need immediate assistance,” Nolan’s voice is clear and urgent.
Without hesitation, Tim accepts the call, urgency in his voice for the first time that day. “Roger that, Nolan. We’re en route.”
Tim accelerates towards the scene, the Griffith Observatory coming into view. The iconic building stands majestically atop the hill, its silhouette against the clear blue sky adding a surreal beauty to the unfolding situation.
As you arrived on the scene, the deafening sound of gunfire filled the air, drowning out any semblance of normalcy. Lucy and Tim sprang into action, their movements swift and purposeful as they navigated the chaos.
"Stay in the car, Y/N!" Tim's command pierced through the chaos, his tone leaving no room for debate.
But as you sat there, the abrupt silence that followed sent a chill down your spine. Lucy's panicked cry for Tim shattered the stillness, sending your heart into overdrive, “Bradford!”
Ignoring Tim's orders, you bolted from the shop, desperation fuelling your every step. The scene before you was a tableau of chaos and confusion, the beauty of the Observatory juxtaposed against the violence that unfolded within its walls.
You searched frantically for any sign of Tim or Lucy, all you found was Tim's abandoned radio, a silent witness to the turmoil that had unfolded.
The setting sun cast long shadows, casting an eerie glow over the scene, a reminder of the fragility of life in the face of danger. And the tension is electric, like the calm before a storm. Tim’s voice crackles through the radio, cutting through the silence.
“Y/N Buckley, can you hear me?"
Tim's heart races with anticipation as he waits for your response. He's nervous, hoping that you'll hear him clearly. He wonders if you'll be able to sense the nerves in his voice, hoping that you'll understand the significance of what he's about to do.
Grinning, you grab the radio. “Loud and clear, Bradford” you replied, your voice steady but your pulse quickening with each passing second.
A pause stretches out, thick with anticipation. “Close your eyes, Buckley. And this time, try not to defy a direct order.”
Rolling your eyes but intrigued, you humor him and shut your eyes, taking a deep breath of the crisp air, feeling a rush of excitement coursing through your veins. You focused on the sound of Tim's voice, letting it wash over you like a warm embrace as he began to speak.
"You and I, Y/N, we’re a wild ride,” Tim starts, his voice unexpectedly tender. “Who would’ve thought our journey would lead us here, to this crazy, beautiful moment?”
As Tim's voice crackled through the radio, a surge of nervous energy swept through him. He had rehearsed his words a thousand times in his mind, but now that the moment was upon him, he couldn't help but feel a pang of doubt.
The weight of the ring in his hand served as a reminder of the gravity of the situation, filling him with both excitement and trepidation.
A soft touch grazes your hand, sending a thrill up your spine. Your heart pounds in your chest.
“You challenge me, drive me nuts, and somehow make me a better man,” he continues through the radio, a hint of a smile in his voice. “And damn it, I love you for it.”
You can’t help but smile, a warmth spreading through you. As you listen, you feel tears prickling at the corners of your closed eyes. Tim's words resonate with you, stirring something within yourself that you can't quite put into words.
You want to open your eyes, to see the man you love more clearly, but you also want to savor this moment a little while longer. With each word, you feel your heart swell with love for Tim. His vulnerability, his honesty, it all takes your breath away, leaving you utterly captivated.
"Open your eyes, sweetheart," Tim's voice breaks through your reverie, pulling you back to the present moment.
With a flutter of excitement, you obey, slowly parting your eyelids to reveal the sight before you. There is Tim, his eyes filled with love and longing as he slowly kneels down before your eyes, a small velvet box in his hand. The sight of him, vulnerable and trembling, fills you with a sense of awe and gratitude as the setting sun casts a golden halo around him, the cityscape stretching out behind him in a breathtaking panorama.
Tears of joy well in your eyes as you take in the sight of the ring in his hand, your heart overflowing with love for the man who means the world to you.
“Y/N Buckley,” Tim’s voice wavers just a bit, “will you marry me?”
For a moment, you are stunned into silence, your mind reeling with the weight of his question. You feel a surge of emotion welling up inside, threatening to spill over at any moment. This is it, the moment you've been dreaming of, the moment you've been waiting for since you laid eyes on Tim, few years back.
Tim chuckles, a nervous but endearing laugh. “I’ll take that as a yes?”
"Yes, Tim. A thousand times, yes!" your voice choked with tears, as your words ring out into the night, a declaration of love and commitment that echoes through the air.
With a trembling hand, Tim slips the ring onto your finger, sealing their promise with a simple yet profound gesture. As your eyes meet once more, you share a moment of perfect understanding, a silent acknowledgment of the love that binds you together.
Without another word, you're in each other's arms, holding onto each other tightly as if trying to make up for all the time you've lost. In that moment, nothing else matters but the overwhelming love you share, a love that has weathered every storm and emerged stronger than ever before.
Tim's lips meet yours in a tender kiss, a sweet yet passionate embrace that speaks volumes more than words ever could. You cling to each other, lost in the intensity of your emotions, your hearts beating as one in the darkness.
As you pull away, breathless and flushed with emotion, you share a smile that lights up the night. In each other's arms, you find solace and strength, knowing that no matter what the future holds, you'll face it together, hand in hand, heart to heart.
Nolan chimes in through the radio, his voice filled with laughter. "Bradford, are we breaking out the champagne or what?"
Tim's smile widens at Nolan's words, and he glances over at you with a playful twinkle in his eye. "Hold off on the champagne, Nolan," he replies, unable to suppress a laugh. "She said yes."
Murmuring softly, Tim leaned in close to your ear. "I guess I didn’t mess this one up, huh?"
You chuckled softly, leaning into his embrace. "Not this time, Bradford."

Hey soo uhh can I like request an Alex volkov x fem!reader?
It can be a fluff oneshot or headcanons or whatever. but here's the visual: After alex goes to pick up Ava and makes a detour to the bakery, he spots a girl preparing Josh's cake, all in her pink, cutesy world.
Alex then takes notice that it's one of Ava's friends that he's only seen like 3 times before in his life. He asks if she's going to Josh's party but she declines, saying that Josh would freak out if he saw or heard about her being at a party (let's say that the reader has been close to the Chen's for a very long time that they start considering the reader as family)
Alex pays no mind but when he starts seeing the reader pop out of nowhere almost every single day, he gets sort of attached?
and if you don't mind, if you do consider doing this request, could you make it to where reader is happy go lucky? Nice, always happy, innocent like real innocent? I'm sorry to ask this 😭 I know this is a lot. anyways have a good day!

you loved you job at ‘crumble and bake’ simply because you were such a bubbly person and you loved doing things for other people. people would usually say it’s a flaw, but you wouldn’t, you loved it.
your parents died when you were little, and after years of feeling like you were worth nothing, you finally found something that you were good at. baking. you also managed to find your people. the chen’s. ava and alex were literally like your siblings, and their dad micheal was like your own dad. you were told multiple times about a guy called alex who was josh’s best friend, but you never actually met him.
you were now working in a bakery, ava and the rest of your friends were in university chasing their dreams while you were living yours. in a small bakery in a huge city. you baked all sorts of things. cookies, cakes for birthdays and everything else, pastries, everything. business was booming and everyone loved you. you would say you had a good personality, and others said you did too.
it was pouring outside, and you were trying your hardest to hold out closing the bakery because ava said she was coming to pick up her brothers cake for the party they were having that night, but it was hours past closing time and you were freezing as well as tired. it had been a long night and you just wanted to climb into bed and watch your favourite tv show until you fell asleep.
you heard the bell of the bakery go off and you looked up from the icing on the cake you were doing for a pick up tomorrow. you saw ava and a man walk in from a car outside. you smile and say a ‘hi’ before going into the back to collect the cake, as you were walking, you could fell someone’s eyes trained on you.
you come back a few minutes later with josh’s cake in the box. the man and ava must have been having a hushed conversation, because when you came back, they both stopped and looked at you. you smile at ava and round the counter, handing her the box. you stand back and smile at the both of them. it was so discreet, you could have missed it if you weren’t looking properly, but ava nudged the man she was with.
“this is alex” ava smiles at you. ah, so the man you had never met. alex volkov.
“i’ve heard a lot about you” alex goes for a handshake, but you ignore his outstretched hand and go to hug him. he didn’t melt into the hug, but you didn’t really expect him to. but what he did do is pat your back twice, which was when you took your signal to pull away. you heard ava stifle a laugh at his face. you looked up and saw it too. clenched jaw and eyes staring miles ahead of him, a stoic façade. “oh, im sorry, i didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable i just-“ you tried to explain, ava was still trying to stifle a laugh.
“its fine” the man eventually grumbled. his voice was low and he didn’t sound like it was fine, but you nodded.
you bit your lip softly in shame, ava moved the box so it was sat on her hip and patted your shoulder.
“would any of you like anything else? im about to close up” you say softly, looking between the two of them, alex’s eyes were back on you again, and you almost missed the way he had to harden them again to keep his stoic façade. you didn’t mind though.
“can i have some of those cookies jules likes? she would never forgive me if i came here and didn’t get her some” you nod and smile, going back around the counter and grabbed an already prepped bag of the cookies, you knew either ava or jules would come in today and ask for them, so you prepped them just in case. still warm.
this time, when you got back up, it was alex at the counter to pick them up. you saw ava smirking behind him. he looks back at her and she gives him a subtle nod, before he turns back around and swallows thickly.
you hand him the bag, and his fingers brush against yours. he closes his eyes and lets out a small huff. you thought you had annoyed him again until he opens his mouth and speaks.
“are you going to the party tonight?” he says, so quietly you didn’t hear at first, so you furrowed your brows. “are you” he sighs “are you going to josh’s party tonight?” he says, but this time slightly louder. ava’s smirk grew wider.
“uhm” you think, “no, josh would lose it if he ever found out i was going to a party, let alone one he was organising. plus im just gonna go straight home after closing up. its been a long week” you say. your cheeks were beginning to flush and you were beginning to ramble, this was probably the first time you were having a conversation with a man who swung your way.
he nods softly, his face never faltering from its hardness. honestly, alex would have just left it there as he assumed he would never see you again.
but when he had to take care of ava when josh was away, he found himself seeing you a lot more often, sometimes just making sure to drive past crumble and bakes on his way home so he could see you in that pretty pink apron you wore.
honestly, sometimes he even just sat there in his car and followed you home in it to make sure you got home alright that night (it was getting dark on a night and it was winter, don’t blame him for wanting to keep you safe).
he also found himself asking ava and josh more about you, just wondering what you were like. he often used the excuse that he just wanted to know to see if he could trust you with making his cake for his next birthday since the cakes you made always looked good and were always sweet (secret code for: you looked good and was always sweet).
he never showed an ounce of emotion around you though, so did he like you, did he not? of course, you were also quite interested in the big brooding man dressed in all black in the corner of your pink little bakery every so often, so you asked ava about him.
“that’s alex, of course you know his name, but not his face as you’ve never seen him before, but by the sounds of things, you’re both interested” she told you one day. interested? what? that can’t be right because he never shows any emotion around you and barely even talks to you but orders his black coffee around the same time every day, then leaving when you do.
now you think about it… maybe he could be interested, he just didn’t know how to show it! you may finally be understanding this guy. but the not showing emotion thing? what’s with that?
“how can he be interested when he barely ever shows any emotion around me, and barely ever speaks to me, apart from when no one else is out and about to ask for his coffee?” you ask, you were probably overthinking things, but you never had even spoken to a guy before, let alone one like him.
“trust me babe, he shows a lot more emotion around you than he does any of us” ava replies, holding a pink skin-tight dress up to you. you furrow your brows.
“i thought we were shopping for you?” she squint her eyes, probably trying to imagine you in the dress before putting it in the shopping basket.
“we are, but there’s a party jules is hosting soon and i want you both there so i can set the two of you up” she smiles before walking off slightly, leaving you dumbfounded, you jump back into action and follow her.
“what about josh? he’ll kill me and you and jules if he found out i was there” you protest. i mean, you hadn’t been to a party before, much less one jules was hosting, but you did kinda want to go.
“what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him” ava smiled, linking your arm with hers as you continued walking.
and that conversation is what lead you here. in the skin-tight dress ava insisted she bought you, face gorgeous with make up and hair done very nicely. you were stood, holding your clutch, looking for any of your friends who had insisted you come, but instead, someone had found you.
“i thought josh said he would kill you if you were caught at a party” it wasn’t a feminine voice, nor was it a voice you recognised that well, and you recognised a voice when you heard one. you spun around and saw, the one and only, alex volkov.
“i did, but uhm, ava and jules insisted i come, so here i am” you resumed looking around for them, not really caring If you looked or sounded rude. you needed someone you knew so you could spend the night with them instead of being forced to get drunk and ending up in a stranger’s bed the next morning. you had never had sex, and you planned to keep that up until you were married or at least found the right person.
“you looking for them?” you spun back around and furrowed your brows, you couldn’t hear him over the extremely loud music. “i asked if you were looking for them” he repeated louder, “i know where they are” you nodded in response and he held out his hand for you to take.
you furrowed your brows, he told you it was so you could stay together. you hesitated but took it anyways.
his hand heavily contrasted yours, his were cold and calloused, whereas yours were soft and warm. you didn’t mind though, as with your warm hands, his hand got warm pretty fast.
he lead you to an outside area where jules, ava, stella, a very well (shitty) disguised bridget, and booth sat. ava was first to walk over to you. she smiled and welcomed you. she ushered you over to sit with the rest of the group while she stayed back to talk to alex.
it was so discrete that you almost missed it, but you could have sworn you saw his hand flex when iy let go of yours in order for you to go sit with your friends. you sat with them and jules passed you a drink which you gratefully sipped on while you watched ava whisper something to alex, who then left.
not long later, you were in need of a trip to the bathroom, and after assuring your friends you would go alone, you set off to find the bathroom. as you walked through the crowd, your clutch in hand, you noticed someone’s eyes on you. yes, there was a lot of eyes on you, but you felt a certain pair in particular that you couldn’t trace, and funnily enough, you didn’t feel uncomfortable by them.
you shook it off and went to the bathroom nonetheless. and when you came out of the bathroom, a man was stood there in the shadows. he walked out and up to you, looking you up and down.
“hi alex” you didn’t know how you managed to find your voice. the two of you were close now. you never noticed the hues of green until now. until you were both looking deep into each other’s eyes. your voice died in your throat when he cupped your face in his pale and cold hands.
initially, you flinched at the cold contact, but when your face warmed up his hand, you leaned into his touch. you almost missed the small smile on his face as you did so. you could tell he wasn’t much used to physical touch as he stiffened after a while when a frisky couple pushed past the two of you, pushing you both into the wall.
“hi” he whispered back, gently moving a strand of hair out of your face.
his body was now fully pressed against yours, his body stiff aswell as yours. you could now see every inch of his face, his sharp jaw and his colourless and emotionless face juxtaposing yours. your mouth was slightly ajar in slight shock and arousal. you had never been this close to a male before, let alone one you may be interested in.
you would be lying if you said you didn’t go to the bathroom to try and get a glimpse of alex again. you were interested in him and you wanted to know more, which you couldn’t unless he opened up to you, which, he wouldn’t.
maybe you could get ava to tell you more.
alex seemed to become more conscious of what he was doing, his body against yours and his hand on your face. he pushed away from the wall, your face became cold when he took his hand away. you closed your eyes softly, and when you opened them again, he was gone.
you sighed and pushed off the wall and made your way back to your friends. you told them you were going to head home seeing as you were still fit to drive, the only drinks you had was either water or colourful mocktails. they all nodded and you said your goodbyes before making your way outside, pushing past sweaty bodies.
you made your way out of the house, and you managed to drop your car keys, clumsy you. you crouched down to pick them up, but a hand met yours as you both reached for them, you looked up and jade green eyes were staring into yours.
